Lost and Found Policies

The Drexel University Libraries are not responsible for the security of personal items brought in to the libraries. Patrons are expected to keep their belongings, especially valuables such as cell phones, PDA's and laptops, within their sight at all times.

Items that are left behind in the libraries, or found by other patrons and turned in to library staff, will be handled as follows:

Hagerty Library

All items found at the Hagerty Library and turned in to library staff are given to the Security Guard Desk at the entrance to the Library. This includes:

  • Cell Phones
  • Calculators
  • Keys
  • Glasses
  • Wallets
  • Jewelry
  • Clothing of any kind
  • Dragon Cards or other personal ID
  • Personal items of any type

Hagerty Library will retain only the following items at the Circulation Desk:

  • Computer disks and "flash drives"
  • Books
  • Notebooks, tablets, school-related papers

Health Sciences Libraries

At the Health Sciences Libraries, all materials found will be held at the Circulation Desks.

Unclaimed Items:

The following policies apply to items that are kept in the Libraries' Lost and Found without names or contact points:

  • Items will be kept in the Lost and Found until the end of the current term.        
  • If unclaimed, books will be added to the Libraries' collection, passed on to a program that provides books to prison libraries, or discarded.
  • All other items will be discarded.
