Where are the Libraries?

• Hagerty – University City Campus, 33rd and Market.
• Hahnemann – Center City Campus, 15th and Vine Streets.
• Queen Lane – College of Medicine Campus, 2900 Queen Lane
• College of Law Library – 3320 Market Street, 2nd and 3rd floors (entrance from 3rd floor)
• Anywhere! Online access from your computer, worldwide.

When are they open?

• Full calendar of hours for all libraries and service areas from link on every web page.
• Electronic collections are available 24/7!
• All libraries have 24-hour study space.

What’s in the Library collections?

• More than 80,000 electronic books.
• 21,000+ electronic journal titles – with SFX-linking between databases and full-text.
• 450,000+ print books.
• More than 500 databases, ranging from general academic interest to highly-specialized.

How do I use e-resources when I’m not in the library?

• In dorms, classrooms, and anywhere you’re connected to the DragonFly network, our online resources will recognize you as a Drexel student -- just start at the Library homepage.
• If you're offcampus, just start at the Library homepage; when you connect to a licensed online resource, log in with your Drexel email username and password.

Do the Libraries still have books?

• Of course!  Search the catalog by title, author, subject or keyword -- or browse our monthly new book lists.
• Books at Hagerty Library are organized by Library of Congress Call Number; books at the Hahnemann and Queen Lane Libraries have National Library of Medicine Call Numbers.
• Always check the location in the catalog listing! Use Request to hold a book, or have it sent from another Drexel library.

What about readings for my classes?

• Reserve desks have books, articles, videos assigned for class readings.
• Many reserve readings are available online – any time day or night, no waiting in line.

How many books can I borrow and for how long?

• Most books can be borrowed for 4 weeks
• You can have up to 20 books checked out at a time.

What do I have checked out, and when is it due?

• Check your library record online to see what you have checked out
• Renew your books online!
• We’ll send you an email note before your books are due.

What if the Library doesn’t have what I need?

• Use EZ-Borrow to request books from academic libraries across Pennsylvania.
• Check Access PA for books at other Pennsylvania Libraries; request through Interlibrary Loan.
• Free Interlibrary Loan service (ILLiad) can acquire journal articles and borrow books from libraries around the world.  Most journal articles are sent to you electronically and arrive within days.
• Courtesy agreements allow research use of many local academic libraries.

 Do the Libraries have computers?

• Up-to-date PCs for Internet access, Office software use, etc.
• Laptops – borrow at Hagerty to use in Library.
• Wireless network throughout Libraries; make yourself comfortable with your laptop anywhere.

• Group study rooms – for 2-12 people
• Lockers at Hagerty Library – rent one for the term to store your stuff!
• Printers and Photocopiers  -- use your DragonCard funds to pay for printing and copying.
• 24 hour study space at all libraries.

• Quiet space and “Loud” space – different areas of the libraries are appropriate for conversation and group work, or for quiet studying.
• What if I need a study break?
  • DVD’s and videotapes at Hagerty Library
  • “Leisure” reading at Hahnemann and Hagerty Libraries – popular recent fiction and non-fiction.

Where do I start?

• More than 500 online databases to find journal articles and other research material.
• Try general academic databases (Proquest, InfoTrac’s Expanded Academic) to start out.
• Look for useful search help to find peer-review or scholarly articles.
• Use Research Guides or Databases by Subject lists to find more specialized databases in your discipline.

• Easy download from most databases.
• Set up your own account, or share for a group project.

• Access online from anywhere.
