Twenty-four individual leaves representing the history of books from early manuscript leaves on vellum to printed texts on biblical, legal and natural history subjects. Most leaves are in Latin, although French, German and English are included with one leaf in Arablic and Persian.

    Scope and content: p. 157-8 with 158 being the more interesting side. Seven facsimile title pages grouped on one page accompany this leaf. Slotkin's notes indicate a sampling of works covering the prophets, Martin Luther, Law and morals. All were printed in Nuremberg, Salsburg or Mainz between 1589 and 1782.

University of Missouri received "Secundi Naturalis Historiae Mundi", "Liber Primus" preface (1563) from Mark Slotkin.

    Scope and content: Columns number 649-652; including entries "John Shirley, London b. 7 Aug 1648"; "Daniel Capel, Glocester b. 1656"; and "Christopher Davenport, Coventry, Warwickshire" likely from "Athenae britannicae: or, A critical history of the Oxford and Cambrige [sic] writers and writings, with those of the dissenters and romanists, as well as other authors and worthies, both domestick and foreign, both ancient and modern. Together with an occasional freedom of thought, in criticizing and comparing the parallel qualifications of the most eminent authors and their performances, both in manuscript and print, both at home and abroad" by Myles Davies 6 vols. of this work were published between 1715-1719. - All three vols. in the Cambridge University set are dated 1716. - The third volume differs in its contents from all four states mentioned on ESTC, containing 7 parts, the six listed for ESTC t135528, and the "dissertation upon ... physick" which is part of ESTC t200741. Illustration: vol. 1, frontispiece of "George, Prince of Wales". - Each volume has an index. Binding: calf, panelled, part speckled, with blind rolls and tools.
