The Philadelphia Chapter of the Special Libraries Association was founded in 1919 as a local library organization, the Special Libraries Council of Philadelphia and Vicinity, to promote the collection, organization, and dissemination of information to executives, research directors, and employees of industrial firms.  In 1933 the Council affiliated with the Special Libraries Association, an international professional association for librarians and information professionals working in non-traditional library settings.  The collection consists of publications issued by the chapter as well as bylaws, minutes, reports, and other administrative records.
