The original building constructed for the Drexel Institute of Art, Science, and Industry was designed by the noted architectural firm Wilson Brothers and Company. Construction on the building began in 1889, and dedication ceremonies took place on December 17, 1891. The building housed all major functions of the school including classes, administration, and public events until the completion of East Hall (later Randell Hall) in 1901.
