Donating and transferring records
The Drexel University Archives encourages all departments and offices at Drexel to transfer their non-current records to the archives. A detailed description of materials being sought can be found in the appropriate links below. For further details, please note Drexel University’s records retention policy. All record types marked permanent in this policy will be accepted by the university archives.
In addition to university records, the university archives is also seeking to add to its special collections material, which currently includes material related to:
- The Drexel family
- Late nineteenth century Philadelphians associated with Anthony J. Drexel
- Professional associations and organizations associated with the Drexel community
- Drexel faculty and alumni
To ensure proper transfer, please discuss all donations and records transfers with the university archivist before physically relocating them to the archives.
The following links offer specific guidelines for donating and transferring records and materials:
Employees transferring non-current records from their offices or departments
Faculty donating papers and/or research materials

Note on restricting access to records: The Drexel University Archives and Special Collections discourages unreasonable restrictions on access and use of material but may accept as a condition of acquisition clearly stated restrictions of limited duration and may occasionally suggest such restrictions to protect privacy. The university archivist performs their responsibilities in accordance with statutory authorizations and institutional policies. If you have material that you believe contains sensitive information, please discuss options regarding the restriction of records with the university archivist before transferring the material to the archives.
