UR 3.17 Blueprints and architectural drawings, 1930-2000, 28 linear feet
This collection consists of approximately 5 c.f. of blueprints and other architectural drawings or surveys relating to the construction, renovation, or landscaping of various locations on Drexel University campus between 1930 and 2000.
Most well represented are the construction of campus libraries (Hagerty Library and what is today the Korman Center) and dormitories (Van Rensselaer Hall, Kelly Hall, Calhoun Hall); the collection also includes plans of renovations to the Main Building, the National Guard Armory, the Frank Furness-designed Centennial Branch of the Pennsylvania Bank (today the Paul Peck Alumni Center), and an Architecture Department studio; plans for construction of the Alumni Engineering Labs, Stratton Hall, Nesbitt Hall, the Educational Activities Center (MacAlister Hall), the Physical Education Center (Daskalakis Athletic Center), the General Service and Parking Facility, and the old student union and student dining hall buildings (no longer extant); and plans of campus landscaping, a water main, and an unidentified building described as “axonometric.” Plans of two non-campus locations are also included: a senior-junior high school located in northeast Philadelphia, and the block to the northwest of 32nd and Race which was the subject of city condemnation proceedings.
