UR 1.3 Kenneth G. Matheson administration records, 1922-1932, 3 cubic feet
Kenneth Matheson was president of the Drexel Institute of Art, Science, and Industry from 1922 to 1931. Before coming to Drexel, he received a military education, served as a commandant of cadets and a professor of English at several military schools, and was president of the Georgia School of Technology from 1906 to 1922. As Drexel’s president, Dr. Matheson expanded the co-operative education program and oversaw the building of Curtis Hall and Drexel’s first dormitory for women. He died unexpectedly in 1931. The collection consists of Dr. Matheson’s correspondence, chiefly with faculty but also with students and parents of students, documenting the day-to-day administration of the Drexel Institute.
