UR 5.2 Library records, 1929-2002, 32.33 cubic feet
The library and reading room of the Drexel Institute of Art, Science, and Industry opened in 1892 under the direction of librarian Alice B. Kroeger. The first library was housed in the Main Building and was also responsible for running the library school until 1962. A new library, later called the Korman Center, opened in 1959, but planning for another new library began shortly thereafter. The W. W. Hagerty Library opened in 1983. This two largest components of this collection are drafts of the library building program for the construction of Hagerty Library, 1970-1978, and annual reports from the library and its departments, 1964-1997. Other records include subject files compiled chiefly by library director Richard Snyder, staff meeting minutes, some correspondence, and pamphlets pertaining to library events and exhibits.

UR 4.25 Dance Ensemble performance recordings and programs, 2004-2008, 0.33 cubic feet
The Drexel University Dance Ensemble, established in 1978, is a program of the Dance Department in the Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts and Design. Open to all Drexel students on the basis of a competitive audition, the ensemble presents biannual performances featuring choreography by students, faculty, and outside professionals and a variety of dance styles. This collection consists of DVD recordings and printed programs and postcards for the Drexel University Dance Ensemble’s biannual performances. Performances include student and professional dancers, musicians, and choreographers.
UR 4.24 Pennoni Honors College records, 1988-2008, 2.5 cubic feet
This collection consists primarily of photographs, publications and promotional materials, and news articles relating to the Pennoni Honors College. The largest series consists of the dean’s files (1993-2007), including newspapers, newsletters, invitations, and memos. Photos (1996-2004) are organized in one binder and one envelope; arrangement is unclear, possibly chronological. Other series include Honors Program/College committee meetings (1991-2005), Mentor’s Group (1988-1991), and Phi Kappa Phi. Finally, there are computer disks with contents to be determined.

What is now the College of Information Science and Technology (previously the Library and Reading Room, 1892-1914; School of Library Science, 1922-1954, Graduate School of Library Science, 1954-1978; School of Library and Information Science, 1978-1984; College of Information Studies, 1984-1995) was founded in 1892 when the Drexel Institute opened its doors. This collection spans the entire history of the college, but the bulk of the material is administrative records (reports, faculty and staff meeting minutes, personnel files, grants, curriculum, etc.) dating mostly from the 1950s through the 1990s. The collection also includes some student records; materials about specific deans, directors, and alumni; a series relating to the Rush Building; publications; publicity materials; photographs; and programs and memorabilia. Some of the files contain letters by Guy Garrison, retired dean of the college, who was responsible for transferring the collection to the archives.
UR 6.13 Civil and Architectural Engineering senior design project reports, 2002, 2 cubic feet
This is a collection of final reports submitted by students in CAE 493, the final course of a three-course senior project sequence in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering. The reports simulate engineering design proposals for construction projects, such as the construction of a new dormitory for Drexel, a new passenger rail line between the Philadelphia Airport and the Delaware River waterfront, and the renovation of a bridge on highway I-95.

Drexel celebrated its first school-wide commencement in 1894. The collection includes programs, invitations, correspondence, speeches, and rosters related to commencement ceremonies at Drexel University and its predescessor institutions. Records are arranged chronologically by date.

UR 5.8 Kenneth Garson collection, 1979-2008, 1 cubic foot
This collection is largely composed of information relating to the LibQUAL+ program. Material relating to this topic includes conference booklets, survey results, brown bag presentation notes, and program comments. There is also some content specific to the Drexel University libraries, including student satisfaction surveys, closing hour exit studies for the years 1985-1988, and the 2006 and 2008 library budgets. A mini-cd, a few flyers, brochures, and informational booklets are included; most of these materials deal with the IRT department. Some Drexel-related ephemera are also included with the collection.

This collection consists of financial records, including ledgers, account books and account balance worksheets, year-to-year spending comparisons, and annual financial reports, found among the collection in the Drexel University Archives. It includes ledgers dating from the founding of the Institute in 1892 through 1916. UR 2.1 Board of Trustees and Executive Committee records, 1891-2005, 10.25 cubic feet
The Board of Trustees of the Drexel Institute was established in 1891 with the school’s founder, Anthony J. Drexel, as its president and his business partner, George W. Childs, as vice president. The institute was also governed by a separate Board of Managers, which merged with the existing board into a twenty-four member Board of Trustees when Drexel was incorporated in 1894. The Executive Committee was formed at the time of incorporation as a six-person standing committee entrusted with “the general charge and supervision of all the business of the institute.” This collection consists chiefly of the minutes of meetings of the Board of Trustees, the Board of Managers, and the Executive Committee from 1891 to 1995. It also contains reports and correspondence of the secretary of the board from 1896-1915, trustees’ and executive committee “board books” from 1985-1989 and 2000-2005, and a small set of administrative records, chiefly from the 1980s.

This collection consists of files on individual people affiliated with Drexel, chiefly as faculty, staff, or students. Most files contain media clippings, press releases, or articles about the individual; résumés or curriculum vitae; and forms and questionnaires filled out by the individual listing personal information and work history.

PC 13 Planning, Design and Construction photographs, 1965-2002, 2.5 Cubic feet
The Planning, Design and Construction Photographs Collection is from the files of Jerry McFarland, former director of Planning and Construction at Drexel University. The collection consists of color photographs, negatives, and slides that document a variety of university projects undertaken during McFarland’s tenure at the university.
Ranging from 1966-1993, the majority of the collection documents campus sites before, during, and after the completion of major construction projects. Some photos were taken as McFarland sought opportunities for future growth and beautification projects, both on the campus and in the surrounding neighborhoods.
The collection is arranged alphabetically by site name with each folder representing one roll of film. While the majority of rolls feature only one site, some feature multiple sites. The last series includes two slide presentations compiled from multiple rolls (campus projects, slide presentation and campus construction, slide presentation).
PC 12 Clubs and organizations photographs, 1935-2000, 1.66 cubic feet
This collection consists of a series of files containing photographs of members of Drexel University clubs and organizations. Photos date as early as 1935 and as late as 2000; many are undated. The bulk of the photos are black-and-white or color prints, but files also contain a few negatives and contact sheets. Many photographs transferred from the Lexerd office have job number, page number, page position and other yearbook related information attached. Some photographs transferred from the Office of University Relations have captions or annotations associated with them, providing dates and additional information about the subject of the photograph.
Although the provenance of the photographs is not known, it is believed that most were originally transferred to the University Archives from the Office of University Relations and the Lexerd office. Archives staff have also occasionally added photos to this collection as they are found among unrelated records or accessioned.

UR 6.3 Faculty authors collection, 1920-2005, 22 cubic feet
This collection contains copies of published and unpublished articles, conference papers, grant applications, and lecture notes by Drexel University faculty members, before, during, and after their tenure at Drexel. It also includes bibliographies of faculty writings from 1977 to 1990 compiled for an annual research conference. Related background material, such as faculty résumés and curriculum vitae, photographs, newspaper clippings, etc., can be found in the biographical reference collection located in the reading room of the Drexel University Archives.
UR 12.1 Periodicals collection, 1896-2005, 5.6 cubic feet
Periodicals published by Drexel University and its predecessor organizations. Includes general news periodicals, alumni news, student publications, and specialty periodicals published by departments and offices within the university. Collection also contains course catalogs, informational circulars, and other periodicals published for students and staff on a weekly, monthly, or yearly schedule.
