UR 3.15 Inventory of buildings, furnishings, and items, 1921-1922, 0.5 cubic feet
This collection consists of an inventory of buildings, furnishings and items in the Main building, East Hall (now Randell Hall), North 33rd Hall, and Powelton Hall. The inventory was conducted between 1921-1922 and consists of 3×5 index cards arranged by floor/room number. read more >>>
UR 4.11 College of Business and Administration records, 1934, 1966-1989, 1 cubic foot
The College of Business and Administration was established as the Business Department when the Drexel Insitute of Art, Science, and Industry. The school was renamed the School of Business Administration in 1922 (later the College of Business Administration in 1945) and began granting bachelor’s degrees in 1923. The MBA program was established in 1949. The college was first accredited by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in 1966 (for its undergraduate program) and in 1976 (for its MBA). A PhD program was launched in 1980. The bulk of this collection consists of the 1966 application for AACSB accreditation and reports prepared for reaccreditation in 1986. It also includes an earlier AACSB application, annual reports from the dean to Drexel’s president from 1978 to 1981; a strategic plan from the 1980s; a report on the founding of the PhD program; and MBA and PhD curricular materials.

UR 2.1 Board of Trustees and Executive Committee records, 1891-2005, 10.25 cubic feet
The Board of Trustees of the Drexel Institute was established in 1891 with the school’s founder, Anthony J. Drexel, as its president and his business partner, George W. Childs, as vice president. The institute was also governed by a separate Board of Managers, which merged with the existing board into a twenty-four member Board of Trustees when Drexel was incorporated in 1894. The Executive Committee was formed at the time of incorporation as a six-person standing committee entrusted with “the general charge and supervision of all the business of the institute.” This collection consists chiefly of the minutes of meetings of the Board of Trustees, the Board of Managers, and the Executive Committee from 1891 to 1995. It also contains reports and correspondence of the secretary of the board from 1896-1915, trustees’ and executive committee “board books” from 1985-1989 and 2000-2005, and a small set of administrative records, chiefly from the 1980s.

UR 10.2 Biographical reference collection, circa 1930-2005; bulk dates 1965-1990, 11 linear ft.
This collection consists of files on individual people affiliated with Drexel, chiefly as faculty, staff, or students. Most files contain media clippings, press releases, or articles about the individual; résumés or curriculum vitae; and forms and questionnaires filled out by the individual listing personal information and work history.

UR 12.2 Drexel University Bulletin, 1924-1957, 1977-1981, 1.33 cubic feet
The Drexel University Bulletin (also known as the Drexel Institute of Technology Bulletin) was a promotional publication used as a student recruitment tool. Specific issues of the Bulletin provided details of programs at Drexel; particular issues were dedicated to cooperative education, engineering, library science, home economics, and science. Other issues were used to recruit female students. Drexel occasionally used the Bulletin to publish its annual reports and lists of alumni. The collection consists of Bulletin issues from 1924 to 1957 and 1977 to 1981.

UR 1.10 Richard Breslin administration records, 1973-1995, 59.33 cubic feet
Richard David Breslin (b. 1937 or 1938), Drexel’s tenth president, began his academic career in 1968 at Villanova University, where he became dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in 1972. He later became vice president for academic affairs at Iona College and president of the University of Charleston in West Virginia. Dr. Breslin served as president of Drexel from 1988 to 1994. The collection consists of a chronological record of Dr. Breslin’s outgoing correspondence; subject files on administrative topics, organizations, events, and Drexel colleges and offices; and material relating to Dr. Breslin’s inauguration as president. Included with the collection are a set of minutes of Board of Trustees meetings from 1973 to 1987 and 1989 to 1991.

UR 6.4 Student record books, 1892-1916, 6 cubic feet
This collection of record books lists Drexel Institute students from the years 1892-1914. It includes student records from the following classes and departments: art (1893-1905), domestic science (1892-1915), architecture (1895-1902, 1912-1914), mechanic arts (1892-1906), mechanical drawing (1899-1900), machine construction (1899-1900), and normal course/teacher training (1893-1916). The collection also includes a record of scholarships (1892-1902), a record of diplomas and certificates awarded (1893-1914), and a record of enrollment by department (1892-1893). Student record books for the art department during the years of Howard Pyle’s School of Illustration are a part of this collection.
