PC 16, E. Lee Goldsborough photographs of Tidewater Granary fire, 1956, 47 items
The collection contains forty-seven photographs of the aftermath of the Tidewater Granary elevator explosion in March, 1956. The photographs show firemen working, damaged buildings, rubble, and several surrounding buildings still intact. One of the four surrounding buildings affected by the blast was Drexel’s Student Union Building, which was holding classes for the Evening College at the time of the grain elevator explosion. read more >>>
UR 10.8 Drexel historical films, 1937-1991, 8 reels and 6 tapes
This collection consists of eight historical films documenting the students, campus, athletics, and activities of the Drexel Institute of Technology. The films were transferred to four 3/4″ tapes and two VHS tapes.
This collection consists of financial records, including ledgers, account books and account balance worksheets, year-to-year spending comparisons, and annual financial reports, found among the collection in the Drexel University Archives. It includes ledgers dating from the founding of the Institute in 1892 through 1916. The provenance of the collection is unknown, and information about the creation of these documents and their transfer to the archives is unavailable.

UR 3.15 Dean of the Faculty marketing and management survey records, 1955-1956, 0.33 cubic feet
In 1955, the Drexel Institute of Technology initiated a management survey with support from the Ford Foundation’s Fund for the Advancement of Education. The consulting firm of Alderson & Sessions was hired to conduct the survey. The study was carried out in two phases: a management phase, which examined Drexel’s organizational structure and managerial effectiveness, and a marketing phase, which looked at Drexel’s appeal to students and its relationship to other Philadelphia institutions. This collection consists of records compiled by dean of the faculty Harry L. Bowman, who served on the Survey Advisory Committee. It includes three of the four volumes comprising the full final report: detailed analyses from the marketing and management phases of the project and statistical data compiled for the marketing phase. (A copy of the fourth volume, an executive summary of the entire report, is available in the Nesbitt College of Design Arts records). It also includes a file of correspondence and meeting minutes compiled by Dean Bowman.

UR 6.3 Faculty authors collection, 1920-2005, 22 cubic feet
This collection contains copies of published and unpublished articles, conference papers, grant applications, and lecture notes by Drexel University faculty members, before, during, and after their tenure at Drexel. It also includes bibliographies of faculty writings from 1977 to 1990 compiled for an annual research conference. Related background material, such as faculty résumés and curriculum vitae, photographs, newspaper clippings, etc., can be found in the biographical reference collection located in the reading room of the Drexel University Archives.
UR 7.2 Football records, 1920-1973, 1.67 cubic feet
The football team had its unofficial beginning at the Drexel Institute in 1892 as a student-organized sport and was discontinued by Drexel’s Board of Trustees in 1973. Records consist of game programs, newspaper clippings, administrative files, rosters, score sheets, and press material. The bulk is from 1950 to 1973; materials prior to 1950 consists mainly of game programs. Administrative files include a brief history of the football program up to the 1930s.
