The Drexel University Archives and Special Collections acquires, preserves and makes available records, manuscripts, visual materials, and publications related to the history of Drexel University.  The archives has material related to Drexel’s founders as well as Drexel students, faculty, academic departments, administrative offices, and campus organizations. The special collections house rare books, historical manuscripts, and other materials donated by the patrons of Drexel.

The university archives relies on the Drexel community to preserve its history and heritage.  If you have materials that you would like to see preserved by the archives, please visit the records transfer/donations page for more information.

The archives welcomes those from outside of the Drexel community to use our material.  For information about our policies visit the about us page.  The first time visitors page includes an introduction to archives and guides on using archival material.

What's the oldest thing in the Archives?

The oldest item in our collections dates all the way back to 1115. Our collection of manuscript and printed leaves from books contains pages from the 12th to 18th centuries. The oldest book in our collections is De proprietate sermonum, published in 1478, which is part of our rare books collection. Use our rare book search to find and request books from the 1400s to the 1900s, including De proprietate sermonum.
