Reading room rules

In order to protect our materials, we ask researchers to follow these rules:

  • Food and drinks are not permitted in the reading room.
  • Coats and bags must be left by the coat rack.  Only appropriate research tools (notebooks, pencils, laptop computers) may be brought to the study tables.
  • All materials should be handled with care. Documents must be kept in the order in which they are found.
  • Do not mark any Special Collections materials. Use of pens and magic markers is not permitted in the reading room.  Pencils are available upon request.
  • Copying will be done by archives staff unless permission is given by the university archivist.  Due to the fragility of some materials, the archivist reserves the right to refuse copy requests.
  • Digital photography and personal scanning of material will be permitted only at the discretion of the university archivist.
  • Due to space limitations, reading room seating is only for persons utilizing the collection.
