The first National Coming Out Day was organized by the Human Rights Campaign on October 11, 1988. Philadelphia activists celebrated on October 22 with a day-long series of performances and workshops.

Happy NCOD anniversary. I bet that the archives at the William Way LGBT Community Center (formerly Penguin Place) would have more source material on this event from the Philadelphia Gay News, Au Courant, and maybe The Labyrinth newspapers as well.
