Not only a new look but some really cool new features. The front page offers a set of tabs for searching options. Besides the familiar search queries to the database, you can now search for author citations and journal citations. That means you can see how many times your papers have been cited and you can look at the citation history for journals.
More cool features can be found in the “Other Tools” link located in the upper right hand area of the screen. On this pape you can do searches on the Mathematics Subject Classification codes, current journals and current publications.
But I found the option “Collaboration Distance” feature to be the most fascinating. You enter two authors names or you can just click the button to insert the mathematician Paul Erdos for the second author. When you click search the result is the number of collaborations separating the two authors, i.e. so many degrees of collaboration! It is so way cool.

== Science Direct Printing Problem ==
During the ScienceDirect Redesign, the PDF Address URL was extended from under 261 to (in most cases) 266 characters. This has unexpectedly created a conflict with Acrobat Reader 7 or greater. The error “Could not start print job” is an Adobe Acrobat-generated error which occurs when printing a PDF in which the URL address is longer than 261 characters, from your browser. Science Direct will implement a fix which will shorten the length of the URL to one manageable by Adobe Acrobat by the end of October, 2006.
“In the meantime, print by first saving the PDF to your computer, and then opening printing the PDF document.”
I just heard about a new blog that is getting a lot of “buzz”. The n-Category CafĂ©, will focus on that heady interface between Physics, Mathematics and Philosophy.
Due to the use of MathML to display math equations and symbols, a plug-in MathPlayer is required (downloadable from http://www.dessci.com/en/products/mathplayer/)
Welcome to John Baez, David Corfield and Urs Schreiber.
