How do I find International Patents?

European Patent Office (EPO) provides access to the European and International patents.
See: European Patent Office – Advanced Search option to find International patents. See ‘What does each of the patent databases included in the EPO database contain’ and ‘Search tips’ for more information.

Distance Learners: How do I obtain articles or books from the library?

Use ‘Borrowing from other libraries’ link to request any articles you need (that we do not have in print or electronic form). Click on ‘Hagerty Library’ and if you are the First Time User, fill up one time form at First Time User Registration for Interlibrary Loan and then start requesting articles or books. You will receive your articles in the electronic form as soon as possible. Books will be shipped to you.

How do I find background information on Smart Materials?

From our online catalog, using Advanced Keyword Searching feature, and using ‘encyclopedia’ and ‘materials’ as key words,

we find, several encyclopedic reference sources which can help us find information on ‘Smart Materials’.

Some examples:

How do I access IEEE Standards?

IEEE has nearly 900 active industry-renowned standards with another 700 under development. Access to IEEE Standards is available through IEEE Xplore database.

Access IEEE Standards at: IEEE Standards
Searching for ‘2006′ as a keyword will locate most recent standards in IEEE Xplore.
For example, IEEE Std 1725 – 2006 IEEE Standard for Rechargeable Batteries for Cellular Telephones
