The tutorial is meant to enhance the upper level undergraduate or first year graduate science student to better understand the nature of the scientific literature. This is not a tutorial on how to search the literature, but understanding the nature of scientific literature will ultimately lead to more productive literature discovery.

The tutorial began as a project by Peggy Dominy and Jenifer Baldwin and with the assistance of Joshua C. Roberts, has come to fruition.
