ITU is the leading United Nations agency for information and communication technologies. The function of ITU-T is to provide global telecommunication standards by studying technical, operating and tariff questions. The results of these studies are published as ITU-T Recommendations.
ITU-T aims to continue to be recognized as the pre-eminent worldwide telecommunication standards body. As of March 2005, there are around 3100 Recommendations in force on topics from service definition to network architecture and security, from dial-up modems to Gbit/s optical transmission systems to next-generation networks (NGN) and IP-related issues.

Standards produced by ITU — ITU-T Recommendations — are now available without charge. The announcement follows a highly successful trial conducted from January−October 2007, during which some two million ITU-T Recommendations were downloaded throughout the world.

Hagerty Library is very pleased to announce the addition of major electronic journal backfiles, which significantly expand the retrospective coverage of our online journal collection. The Wiley Interscience and Elsevier backfiles collections include 575 journals, primarily in the sciences, computer and engineering disciplines, with coverage of some titles extending back as far as the 1930’s. While 145 of these titles replace titles currently in our print journal holdings, the remaining 430 titles are new to our collections.
