What is FSAE?
Formula SAE is a student design competition organized by SAE International (formerly Society of Automotive Engineers). The first competition was started back in 1978 and was originally called the Mini Indy. The concept behind Formula SAE is that a fictional manufacturing company has contracted a design team to develop a small Formula-style race car.
The prototype race car is to be evaluated for its potential as a production item. The target marketing group for the race car is the non-professional weekend autocross racer. Each student team designs, builds and tests a prototype based on a series of rules whose purpose is both to ensure onsite event operations and promote clever problem solving.

Drexel Formula SAE is a team comprised of undergraduate students that designs and builds a race car from the ground up every year for international, intercollegiate competition.
FSAE Facebook Group: Drexel Formula SAE Information Resources and Tools
This group will serve to enhance awareness of various information resources available to participating Drexel students so that they can efficiently use them in their design of the prototype race car for this competition. You can post any material or books you need on the wall of this group. My Facebook ID is bhattjj@drexel.edu

Drexel Archives is proud to present the work of ten Drexel students writing about Drexel history. Each week in the winter quarter, we will feature a new essay. Thanks to Professor Sheryl Simons and all the students in English 101, Fall quarter 2010.
“Mr. Drexel was known for his intelligence, learning five languages. Moreover, he was known for his kindness. He took J.P. Morgan under his wing and helped launch the Industrial Revolution. The Drexel family was also known for donating millions of dollars to improve the condition of prisons, hospital sanitation, and gender equality.
Despite all of his major accomplishments, A.J. Drexel was most proud of the school he founded, the Drexel Institute. He wanted to create a school for the working class that taught art, science, and industry. Access for the masses was critically important and he made sure that the school was in close proximity to public transportation. A. J. Drexel was different from others in his time because he understood that the world was constantly changing and he made sure that his school would change with the times.”

The Billion Gallon Challenge: Advanced biofuels from diverse sources such as grasses and agricultural waste hold the promise of sustainably reducing U.S. oil dependence and global warming emissions. Unfortunately the advanced biofuels industry not been able to meet the demand as set out in the federal Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS).
The Billion Gallon Challenge is an effort to build the support and policies needed to bring the fledgling advanced biofuels industry to maturity. It also seeks to ensure that the biofuels market maximizes taxpayer investment and helps to strengthen U.S. energy and environmental security.
Recent studies have concluded that avoiding dangerous climate change will require the United States and other industrialized countries to reduce their global warming emissions approximately 80 percent below 2000 levels by mid-century. This goal is attainable, but only if we act immediately, and on multiple fronts. One major part of the climate solutions equation is a shift to renewable energy resources such as wind, solar, and bioenergy.

With over 2,500 members & advocates, the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) is the hub of the wind energy industry.
AWEA promotes wind energy as a clean source of electricity for consumers around the world.
AWEA site also provides access to several online documents and resources.
These include:
among many other resources. See also: Wind Energy Case Studies to find information on how wind energy is used today in various ways around the world.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) and the journal Science created the International Science & Engineering Visualization Challenge to celebrate that grand tradition–and to encourage its continued growth. The spirit of the competition is for communicating science, engineering and technology for education and journalistic purposes.
Judges appointed by NSF and Science will select winners in each of five categories: Photography, Illustrations, Informational Posters and Graphics, Interactives Games and Non-Interactive Media. The winning entries will appear in a special section in Science and Science Online, and on the NSF Web site, and one of the winning entries will be pictured on the front cover. In addition, each winner will receive a one-year print and on-line subscription to the journal Science and a certificate of appreciation.

ISI reports that their popular index to the scholarly literature, Web of Science, covers the contents of 494 peer-reviewed open access journals. That amounts to 4.5% of the roughly 11,000 journals covered by the service, also known by its subsets — Arts & Humanities Citation Index, Science Citation Index, and Social Sciences Citation Index.
