OVID Document Order Function Eliminated

Due to incompatibility with our ILLiad electronic Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery service, we have had to discontinue the “Order” option formerly available through the OVID database search system.  Because document requests using the OVID “Order” function could not be transferred directly in to the ILLiad system, delays in processing requests were unavoidable, and the possibility of errors increased.

Those using OVID for searching MEDLINE or other databases can take advantage of our highly-efficient Interlibrary Loan service by way of SFX.  When OVID full-text is not available, and the SFX services menu does not offer other full-text or print options, select InterLibrary Loan (ILLiad) and log in to your ILLiad account to place a request directly.  We do recommend that you review the request form to ensure that information has transferred accurately from the OVID citation to the form.

For more information about our ILLiad service, please see http://www.library.drexel.edu/services/Interlibraryloan.html.

Library Privileges at University of Pennsylvania

As of May 1st, the Drexel Libraries’ reciprocal borrowing letter to Penn’s libraries will reflect changes in policies between Drexel and Penn.

The new reciprocal borrowing letter issued to students and faculty will reflect a change in the periods of expiration of that letter for the patron. Faculty (full-time) will continue to have an annual expiration date — one year from the date of issuance of the letter. Part-time faculty, graduate students, and staff will get their date of expiration that is in the libraries’ Millennium circulation system. (In most cases this is four months, or, in the case of graduating students, a possibly shorter period of time.) This will mean that our patrons will need to get these letters more frequently — no exceptions will be made.

In addition, at Van Pelt Drexel borrowers will be asked to sign a form that shows that they agree to Penn’s stipulations on loan periods, fines, etc.

Access policies for visitors at University of Pennsylvania libraries vary from library to library, and may change during reading and exam periods. Please see their website for further information.
