Science Tutorial Page

Science Animations: Movies & Interactive Tutorial Links has tutorials created by publishers, colleges, and individuals. Created by the North Harris College Biology Department in Texas, subjects covered include anatomy, animals, microbiology, and physiology. There’s also a link on the website for downloading free plug-ins like Macromedia Flash Player and Shock Wave for viewing the tutorials.

R&D Insight–Pharmaceutical database

R & D Insight (RDI) is the authoritative source for worldwide pharmaceutical pipeline business intelligence monitoring all pertinent aspects of a drug’s life cycle from clinical development to product launch or discontinuation. It provides drug intelligence on over 15,000 developmental compounds and continuously monitors the pharmaceutical environment from a drug’s clinical development to product launch or discontinuation.

Drug profies include a detailed literature review, up-to-date information on development status, an Adis rating based on therapeutic value, and commercial intelligence from Lehman Brothers. it also provides chemical structure images for over 6400 compounds.

The Drexel subscription includes access via both the OVID and native ADIS platforms. The OVID platform permits cross-searching with other OVID-hosted medical databases (such as MEDLINE).

Go to Databases by Title (R) and select R&D Insight

Started in 2003, the Teaching and Training Modules on Trends in Health and Aging are designed for students and health care professionals to explore trends in aging in the United States. The modules are based on and illustrated with data from the NCHS Data Warehouse on Trends in Health and Aging. The modules are in PDF format.

DailyMed: current medical information

DailyMed’s goal is to provide current and quality information to the public about marketed drugs. This website was created by the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health. It currently contains information on over 1729 approved prescription drugs. Patrons may search for drug packages labels starting with a particular letter or by the drug name.

Children’s Nutrition Research Center

Established in 1978, the Children’s Nutrition Research Center conducts research on the role of maternal, infant and child nutrition in optimal health, development, and growth. The website features nutrition links on the web, a newsletter geared towards consumers, and information on the Center’s research.

Created at the California State University, Dominguez Hills, Intute has 92 pages to assist students and faculty in the study of chemistry. The website provides detailed answers to each problem. Most of the website works with Internet Explorer.

“The Literature, Arts, and Medicine Database is a free resource available from the New York University School of Medicine Medical Humanities Website.

The database holds annotations of works of literature, art, and film relevant to the illness experience, medical education and practice — fiction; poetry; memoir, biography, autobiography; literary, cultural, and social criticism; visual art; film; drama. The annotations are written by an invited editorial board of scholars from all over North America.”
