Evaluating Health Information Tutorial
Medical Information Day, held April 11, at the Hahnemann Library, Drexel University Health Sciences Libraries, provided patrons with information about library services and resources– and refreshments. Five library users were the lucky winners of the raffle that was part of the day’s celebration:
Scott Horowitz, Creative Arts in Therapy Program, CNHP (Stedman’s Medical Dictionary)
Donna Simmons, Medical Science Preparatory Program, DUCOM (Merck Manual)
Shana Dalton, Accelerated Career Entry Program, CNHP (Tietz Clinical Guide to Laboratory Tests)
Manish Mohanka, Internal Medicine Resident, DUCOM (expert literature search)
Kendall Wood, Physician Assistant Program, CNHP (free photocopying/printing certificate)
Congratulations to all the winners, and thanks to all who participated!
Hahnemann Library now has a color photocopier! It’s on the second floor in Room 2243 behind the study rooms. Color photocopies will be 25 cents a page while black and white photocopies will remain 10 cents a page.
And our color copier is not the only news –we’ve upgraded all our copiers both at Hahnemann and Queen Lane. Check them out–we think you’ll be very pleased.
On April 4th, construction for study rooms will begin on the second floor of the Hahnemann Library. By mid-May we’ll have six beautiful new group study rooms. Hooray!
The downside is that during construction about half of the current journal area will be closed off. The audiovisual collection will still be accessible.
If you’re looking for leisure books–they’ve moved into the reference collection area near the circ desk. Current popular magazines and health sciences journals have moved to shelves and carts near the change machine.
The libraries have a trial to ACP’s PIER: the physician’s information and education resource. ACP’s PIER is a decision making tool which has disease modules with evidence-based guidelines.
To access this resource you must go into STAT!Ref. ACP’s PIER will be available in the list of titles on the main page.
The trial will end April 30th. Please direct comments to Lenore Hardy at hardy@drexel.edu
