Health Care Proposals from 2008 Presidential Candidates : Side-by-Side Summary

This side-by-side comparison of candidates’ positions on health care was prepared by the Kaiser Family Foundation, with the assistance of Health Policy Alternatives, Inc. It is based on information from candidates’ websites and speeches, campaign debates, and news reports. Users may select as many as four candidates for a comparison that can be formatted into a printer-friendly PDF. Summaries are in four categories: access to health care coverage; cost containment; improving the quality of care; and financing.

PsycCRITIQUES

PsycCRITIQUES is a searchable database of full text reviews of psychology books, software and films from 1995 to today. Between 12-20 reviews are added each week. It also offers book cover images. This database is included in our database lists by subject and title.

New SIDS Resource Center

The new National Sudden Infant Death Resource Center (NSIDRC) has been funded by a three-year cooperative agreement with the federal Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB).
The NSIDRC is co-located with the Maternal and Child Health Library at Georgetown University. It will continue the work of the National SIDS/Infant Death Resource Center, serving as a central source of information on sudden infant death (including sudden infant death syndrome, miscarriage, stillbirth and other sudden infant deaths). NSIDRC will also have resources on bereavement, professional resources, safe sleep resources, and statistics. Searchable databases and special issues of the MCH Alert with a focus on infant mortality will be available soon.

AHFS Records Added to DynaMed

DynaMed now has over 800 drug records supplemented by data from AHFS (American Hospital Formulary Service). “The combination of comprehensive prescribing information from AHFS and daily updating from DynaMed systematic literature surveillance provides clinicians with a single convenient, up-to-date drug reference source.”

Need info on APA citation style? Class on Dec 3rd

The College of Nursing and Health Professions is offering a session on APA style for students on December 3rd from 21-1. Facilitated by Education Librarian, Gary Childs, and CNHP Assistant Dean, Dr. Stephen Gambescia it will be held in the Computer Lab Classroom on the 1st floor of the New College Building. Exam Master Online Upgrade

EXAM MASTER Online’s Academic Manager exam score reporting system has been updated :

Some of the highlights include:

* The ability to view reports in full screen mode convenient for exporting and printing of reports

* Completely updated interface for easier reading and better organized data

* Ability to pull up test questions and answer choices while in score reporting mode

* New Examinee Summary report

For a look at this new reporting upgrade please log in to your Academic Manager Account and select the Report Manager button from the main menu and then select Exam to access the exam reports.

Evidence-Based Monographs and More on NursingConsult!

The Synopsis of the Literature section provides complete references and hyperlinks to the original sources. Maternal and Child Health Library

The Maternal and Child Health Library (MCH) is a virtual library for both health profesionals and consumers. It is supported by the National Center for Education in Maternal and Child Health (NCEMCH), at Georgetown University and provides access to several databases like MCHLine, MCH Organizations Database, and MCH Alert, an archive of its free weekly newsletter. The website also has links, knowledge paths, and resource guides for professionals and families.

MRSA and the Workplace Resource

As a result of recent news stories about MRSA infection cases, NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) created a new resource on MRSA and the Workplace. Information about MRSA is presented in a question and answer format. There are also links to general information about MRSA and links to additional resources.
