The Drexel University College of Medicine Institute for Women’s Health and Leadership (IWHL) has launched the Sex and Gender Researcher Database. This database is browsable by researcher’s name, Drexel college/school, area of expertise, or keywords and can be used by both intramural and extramural researchers are who are looking for collaborators in sex or gender differences or women’s health and role in society.

New Version of OVID Debuts January 2
OvidSP, the new and improved version of Ovid’s databases, will debut on Wednesday, January 2. Users will see an easier-to-use interface with two searching options: the Basic Search and Ovid Syntax. Basic Search is a keyword search which ranks results by relevance. This is a good search to do when you need an article ASAP. Ovid Syntax is the search that you will recognize from the current version of Ovid, using medical subject headings.
Faculty who link directly to our Ovid databases from Vista or any other course website should update the link.

Microsoft Office Now on Second Floor Computers at Hahnemann Library
The Microsoft Office Suite is now available on all of the computers near the Hahnemann Library reference desk, providing another venue for printing out lecture slides and working on papers. EndNote and Write-N-Cite will be installed at a later date.

SearchMedica.com
SearchMedica is a search engine for medical professionals. Instead of searching the entire internet, SearchMedica defaults to searching selected journals, clinical trials, systematic reviews, and PubMed. It sorts results by category and date for easier browsing. So far, there are special tabs for hematology/oncology, primary care, and psychiatry.

New Edition of ICIRN Essential Nursing Resources List
The 24th Edition of the ICIRN Essential Nursing Resources List (formerly Essential Nursing References) is now available. The list includes print, multimedia, and electronic sources to support nursing practice, education, administration, and research activities. New sections in this edition are: Alerting Services/Blogs/RSS Feeds (formerly Current Awareness), Consumer Health/Patient Education, Informatics, Public Health/Disaster Preparedness, and Patient Safety. Although the majority of electronic resources are free, citations marked $$ indicate availability via subscription or through a library.This list can be viewed as either a website or a PDF document.

Free Medical Education Portal
MedEdPORTAL is a free, peer reviewed resource containing assessment instruments, tutorials, virtual patients, and more . Started in 2006, this AAMC program offers faculty the opportunity to publish and share their educational resources. The portal can be browsed by discipline or searched by keywords. Online workshops in how to use the portal are available.

Virtual Psychology Classroom
AllPsych Online is one of the largest and most comprehensive psychology websites on the Internet. It provides free online textbooks on topics such as statistics and research methods. The Psychology Reference Section has a history of psychology timeline, biographies on important psychology figures, a dictionary, and more. AllPsych Online also offers diagnostic screening tests and self-help quizzes.

Harriet fans don’t have to worry! Harriet has a wonderful new home at DUCOM. She’s now located on the first floor of the Queen Lane Campus. As part of the collection of the Archives and Special Collections of Women in Medicine and Homeopathy Harriet serves to represent Hahnemann’s history at our medical school.

World Health Statistics 2007
World Health Statistics 2007 is now available from WHO. The Core Health Indicators have been updated with the most recent health statistics for WHO’s 193 Member States. This new edition includes a section with 10 highlights of global health statistics for the past year as well as an expanded set of 50 health statistics.
