Due to incompatibility with our ILLiad electronic Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery service, we have had to discontinue the “Order” option formerly available through the OVID database search system. Because document requests using the OVID “Order” function could not be transferred directly in to the ILLiad system, delays in processing requests were unavoidable, and the possibility of errors increased.
Those using OVID for searching MEDLINE or other databases can take advantage of our highly-efficient Interlibrary Loan service by way of SFX. When OVID full-text is not available, and the SFX services menu does not offer other full-text or print options, select InterLibrary Loan (ILLiad) and log in to your ILLiad account to place a request directly. We do recommend that you review the request form to ensure that information has transferred accurately from the OVID citation to the form.

NIH’s Public Access Policy, mandating that all articles arising from NIH funds must be submitted to PubMed Central upon acceptance for publication, has been a boon for researchers, medical practitioners and public, making publicly-funded research accessible to all. But it has been a source of confusion for authors, who may encounter conflicts between the NIH mandate and the stipulations of publishers’ contracts.
Ben Grillot of the Association of Research Libraries has published a report titled “PubMed Central Deposit and Author Rights”, providing guidelines on how authors can balance NIH requirements and publishers’ restrictions. CAIRSS for Music is a free database which covers music therapy, music education, music psychology, and music medicine. It has all of the citations from primary journals such as Arts in Psychotherapy , Journal of Music Therapy , and Music Therapy Perspectives . It also has selected citations from 11 secondary journals such as Music Analysis, Neuropsychology and Cognition, and Perception and Psychophysics . This database was created by the University of Texas at San Antonio’s Institute for Music Research.
The World Health Organization has an online exhibit celebrating its achievements in public health. The site contains a photo exhibition, public health campaigns in history, a podcast, and video about the organization’s history. It also includes a list of WHO activities celebrating the anniversary.

The Pennsylvania Health Care Quality Alliance has launched a new website that compiles outcome and quality data for all of Pennsylvania’s hospitals in a single publicly accessible location. Users of the website can look up hospital quality measures in four major clinical areas: heart attacks, heart failure, pneumonia, and prevention of hospital-acquired infections–the conditions that are typically the most common and costly for hospitals to treat. The site plans to add more clinical topics and quality measures in the future. To access the site, go to www.phcqa.org.
August 4, 2008 was Rebecca Raszewski’s last day as reference librarian at the Hahnemann Library, a position that she held since November 2003. On August 18, she will became assistant information services librarian and assistant professor, Library of the Health Sciences, University of Illinois—Chicago. In her new position, Rebecca will be responsible for information services, with emphasis on outreach, information, and instructional services, and user support. She will also be the liaison to the School of Nursing. Farewell, best wishes, and congratulations!
