The Drexel University Libraries are trialing the Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database, a full-text , evidence-based resource which provides extensive information on natural medicines and their efficacy. The Libraries are considering subscribing to this product, so please check it out at www.naturaldatabase.com, see how you like it, and make sure to send your comments to Linda M.G. Katz, Associate Director, Drexel University Health Sciences Libraries, at lk32@drexel.edu. The trial will expire after July 8, 2011.
The Drexel Libraries have a trial subscription to the journal Science Translational Medicine; the trial will continue until August 25th. Science, the publishers of the journals, describe the mission as “To promote human health by providing a forum for communication and cross-fertilization among basic, translational, and clinical research practitioners and trainees from all relevant established and emerging disciplines.”

Aimed at the pharmacology researcher, xPharm: The Comprehensive Pharmacology Reference “covers molecular Targets, including receptors, enzymes, transporters and ion channels, chemical Agents, including both drugs and endogenous compounds, clinical Disorders, and basic pharmacological Principles.”

The Libraries have a trial to AccessSurgery, a product similiar to Access Medicine. AccessSurgery contains links to board review questions, procedures/operations, textbooks, videos, and more. Please send all comments to Lenore Hardy.
The Libraries have a trial to a new product, Nursing Resource Center. This database offers access to ebooks like encyclopedias and nursing care plans as well as many full-text journals. Search results are broken down into several tabbed sections such as drugs, care plans, journal citations and even multimedia. Please email Lenore Hardy with your feedback.
The libraries are offering a trial to RefShare, an add-on feature in RefWorks which allows RefWorks users to share their folders or entire database. RefShare can be used for collaborative research or for a group project. For more information, please see the

The libraries have a trial to ACP’s PIER: the physician’s information and education resource. ACP’s PIER is a decision making tool which has disease modules with evidence-based guidelines.
To access this resource you must go into STAT!Ref. ACP’s PIER will be available in the list of titles on the main page.

Drexel Libraries has a long-term trial to DynaMed, a clinical decision making database–it has many of the features of FirstConsult and to some extent, Dxplain. Since it’s being offered to the Library at a much lower subscription price than FirstConsult, we’d like to switch to DynaMed in July 2007. We need to hear from users about their preferences, tho.

The Library has a two-week trial to a new 3D anatomy database. You can rotate models 360 degrees and add or strip away layers of anatomy to view all structures from bone to skin.
In addition to pop-up labelling as you view the 3D models, click on any structure to bring up explanatory text and all related muscle function animations. An interactive MRI section allows you to link the 3D modeling with the equivalent MRI in 3 planes.
