Have you searched for an hour without finding the information you’re looking for? Stop! It’s time to visit, phone, email, or chat with a librarian!
We welcome opportunities to put our specialized knowledge to work for you.
- We are comfortable with advanced search techniques
- We can delve into resources you’ve never heard about before.
Ideally, we combine your subject knowledge with our search expertise to form a powerful team. This can be done by working together at keyboard. If a library visit isn’t possible, we can team up by phone or chat, with the librarian “walking you through” a search. We also perform delegated searching; just tell us what you need, with enough explanation to enable us to recognize it when we see it.

Recently Faculty of 1000 (F1000) created a ranking based on F100′s mission: to present “the top published articles in biology and medicine selected and evaluated by our Faculty” of 10,000 experts.
The F1000 Journal Factor (FFj) measures how well a specific journal is performing on F1000, indicating where F1000 experts think the best research is being published in each specialty. Accompanying each FFj ranking is a link showing which articles contributed to a journal’s place in the rankings.
Faculty of 1000 appears in our Database list. Try this link to take a look. On the red banner at the top of the screen, select the “Rankings” tab. On the left-hand sidebar, below “Journal Rankings”, select “Current” to see the latest rankings.
For comparison, the Libraries also offer rankings based on citation counts: Journal Citation Reports, from the publishers of Science Citation Index.
For questions on journal rankings or any other information need, please contact us at: Hahnemann Library: 215-762-7184 OR Queen Lane Library: 215-991-8740.
The elves were busy at Hahnemann Library while students were on break. They moved some collections to make them easier to find, and started condensing the general book collections.
- Careers Collection — you’ll now find these useful books in the first section of shelving across from the circulation desk, near the printing station.
- Oversize Books — these are now located to the right of the reference desk. If you’ve never browsed through our oversize books, take a look! We have everything from art books to anatomy atlases to A Sett of Anatomical Tables, with Explanations, and an Abridgment, of the Practice of Midwifery, With a View to illustrate at Treatise on the Subject and a Collection of Cases, originally published in 1754.
- Yearbooks — can now be found directly behind the reference desk.
The general book collection is being condensed towards the front of the library; look for temporary tags to indicate the call numbers to be found in each section.
Oh the weather outside is . . . well, actually it’s pretty good for mid-December! But snow or no snow, the Fall term is over and the holidays are rapidly approaching. We’re taking advantage of the end of classes and exams to do so systems upgrades. Thank you for your patience and Happy Holidays to all!
The library’s AccessMedicine subscription now includes clinical cases selected from the well-known LANGE Case File series, edited by Eugene C. Toy, MD. Cases are available in both preclinical and clinical areas ranging from Anatomy to Surgery.
Learners read the case, test their knowledge by answering questions, and read review materials using the “Approach” and “Clinical Pearls” tabs.
Try it! Open AccessMedicine and click Case Files on the dark blue bar at the top ot the page. Click “View by Specialty” to select a topic area such as OB/Gyn. Then scan the list of case topics such as Amenorrhea or Cervical Cancer.
AccessMedicine has limited “seats”, so if you receive a “maximum users” message, try again later.
For easy future access, there is a Quick Link to AccessMedicine on the Health Sciences Libraries home page at http://www.library.drexel.edu/healthsciences .

Keep breathing, you’re almost there!
For prime study space this week and during finals, reserve a group study room in the Hahnemann Library. We have rooms that can accomodate groups from 4 people to 14, all with whiteboards available. Groups must have at least 3 people to reserve a room, but rooms that aren’t reserved can be used as quiet (shared) study space.
Reserve your room online at http://www.library.drexel.edu/room_reserve_hs/room_reserve.
And as always, we thank our students and other patrons for the courtesy they show each other by keeping study areas of the library quiet, and for taking cell phone calls out to the lobby or the stairwell!
The Hahnemann and Queen Lane Libraries will close at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, November 23rd and will remain closed Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holidays.
