Kevin Martin, Drexel University Archivist, departs
On Thursday, March 1, Drexel’s University Archivist, Kevin Martin, will begin a new job at the Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington, Delaware. The Hagley collects documents, photographs, and artifacts that celebrate American business and technology, especially the industries and activities of the mid-Atlantic region. It is situated on the site of the original DuPont gunpowder works and includes Eleutherian Mills, the original DuPont family home. Kevin will be joining the Hagley Library as Digital Projects Archivist.
In the past two years, under Kevin’s leadership, Drexel’s University Archives has created a web presence (Drexel University Archives and Special Collections); launched an institutional repository (iDEA); moved key historic materials to an off-site storage facility that provides better environmental conditions; and made possible the creation of a single point of service for the central University Archives and the Archives and Special Collections on Women in Medicine and Homeopathy.. At the same time Kevin has worked closely with Drexel’s offices of Institutional Advancement and Alumni Relations to promote the University’s history and to collect additional resources that document Drexel’s past and present.
We wish Kevin the very best. He’ll be sorely missed by all his colleagues at Drexel. If you wish to contact Kevin, his new e-mail address is: kmart1944@gmail.com
