If you need help writing (and we all do), Drexel’s Writing Center has just the thing. Throughout the fall term, the Writing Center will host workshops on how to handle aspects of the writing process.
And here’s a bonus: lot’s of the workshops will be co-taught with librarians from Hagerty to help you streamline the research and writing processes.
Check out the entire fall program and register for online and on campus workshops. Upcoming highlights include:
- Oct. 3, 1-4pm: Thesis and Dissertation Support: Thought Engines and Generating Ideas
- Oct. 7, 7pm: Integrating Evidence and Citation Skills: Focus on APA Format
- Oct. 15, 7pm: Style Workshop: Clarity (the Care and Feeding of Sentences, an Owners Guide)
There are many more, running through December 12. Check them out and make sure you come to at least one this term. You’ll be glad to have the tips and ideas for improving your writing and research skills.
Visit Hagerty Library on Thursday, October 1st to experience our 1st ever eResources Fair!
We’ll be offering food, prizes, and giveaways as you learn more about the terrific resources Drexel Libraries provide. There are wonderful opportunities for knowledge and fun found online through e-journals, e-books and databases licensed by Drexel University Libraries, and the Hagerty eResources Fair will help you make your way though these invaluable learning tools.
Even if you’re an old pro in the library databases, we bet there’s a lot you don’t know. Who knows? Maybe you’ll pick up some good tips while you’re picking up your snack.

It’s Banned Book Week at libraries across the country. Each year we celebrate the freedom to read by highlighting books that have been the target of attempted banning and censorship.
Check out the American Library Association’s list of the ten most challanged books of 2008. Then come on down to the University Archives to check out its exhibit from the rare books collection representing more than 1,000 years of banning, burning, and censorship.
A reception celebrating the exhibit will be held this Wednesday, 4-6pm in Hagerty’s lower level. Join us on Wednesday and all this week to think, discuss, and READ.
Ahoy, mateys!
It’s pirate day in the library. Join us in the lower level for the Drexel University Archives welcome back open house. We’ll be a-yo-ho-ho-ing from 4-6pm this (Friday) afternoon.
Learn about the archives’ booty, and grab some grub while you’re at it.
See you there.
Stop by Hagerty’s lower level on Wednesday afternoon, and you’ll find yourself celebrating Drexel’s past presidents. That’s because Drexel University Archives is holding its opening reception for its latest exhibit, “The Past Personified: A Presidential History of Drexel University.”
When: Wednesday, September 23rd, 4-6pm
Where: Hagerty, lower level
Why: Come for the history. Stay for the snacks.
p.s. don’t forget the archives pirate themed open house, this Friday 4-6pm. More to come, matey!
