Yes, we’re flip-flopping temperatures around here. It’s all to keep you on your toes!
Due to construction-related issues, the air conditioning in Hagerty is not working properly. Crews are currently working to restore air conditioning to the building, but we do not have an estimated time of repair.
So be sure to dress comfortably for the warm weather (indoors and out)!

It’s good to have you with us. Please feel free to stop by Hagerty Library, and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have. We’re located at 33rd and Market Streets.
Looking for the schedule of what you’ll be doing during your stay? Here it is: http://www.drexel.edu/studentlife/NSO/default.htm
New Drexel students and their parents will be on campus for the next several weeks for New Student Orientations. Sessions will be held every Monday-Tuesday and Thursday-Friday. So, let’s keep an eye out for newcomers and be sure to welcome them to the Drexel community.
The Law Library is hiring work-study students for the summer quarter and possibly beyond. Job duties include assisting library patrons at the Access Services desk and on the phone. Job duties also include stack maintenance, which involves shelving, shelf-reading and shifting library collections. Applicants must be customer service-oriented, dependable, punctual, able to lift heavy books, and have good communication skills and basic computer skills.
If interested, or for more information, please contact Gillian Washinsky (gln23@drexel.edu 215-571-4778) or Patrick Garon (pjg27@drexel.edu 215-571-4733). Only students with federal work-study grants may apply.
Our giant octopus (i.e. temporary air conditioner) ran away…to the Market Street side of the building, that is.
The temporary unit is in place to help cool the building while crews are working to remove the old air handlers and install the new ones on the roof of Hagerty. Crews have now completed work on the Ludlow Street side of Hagerty and will begin working on the air handler on the Market Street side.
During this time, there may need to be brief closures of various areas throughout the library, so stay tuned for more details.

…auf Wiedersehen, good bye!
Ken Garson, Head of Access Services, has retired after many years of faithful service. We are grateful to Ken for all he has done during his time at the Drexel University Libraries. Starting off as an assistant in the Information Services department while going to library school and later becoming the Library and Information Sciences Librarian before moving on to Head of Access Services, Ken has been an invaluable member of the Drexel team.
Ken’s hard work and determination has been a great influence here at Drexel, and he will be greatly missed by all his colleagues. Ken, we wish you a happy retirement!
