| Are you getting ready to write that paper and have too many books to handle? Is it raining outside and you want to protect your stuff?
The Circulation Desk at Hagerty Library now has bags available for loan so you can carry all of those books and DVDs. Simply check it out with your other items and return it when you are finished. Not only is it free and convenient, you are helping the environment by borrowing a reusable bag. |

Darwin Exhibit

This year is the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin, whose observations of nature propelled theories of evolution of life on Earth. What are you doing to celebrate?
Hagerty Library is commemorating this event with an exhibit on Darwin focusing on his trip to the Galapagos Islands on the HMS Beagle. On display is a copy of the book that started it all, On the Origin of Species…published in 1859. Also on display are materials about Darwin, the Scopes Trial, public response to his theories, and the diversity of flora and fauna of the Galapagos.
Best of all–Galapagos finches (captured and preserved in 1901) are on display on loan from the Academy of Natural Sciences! Finch variations in beak-shape from island to island led Darwin to speculate about adaptation.
Check out the exhibit on the second floor of Hagerty near the stairs. And special thanks goes to Sciences Librarian Peggy Dominy for putting this exhibit together.
