King of horror

I would like more Stephen King books available.

Great suggestion! Please write back and let us know what specific titles you have in mind, so we can get exactly what you want.

More course books, please!

Drexel has money to spend on construction but can’t afford to keep multiple copies of course books? Really? What would happen in finals week if everyone wanted to use the book?

Thanks for the question. The library’s course reserve system allows instructors to make course texts available to their students. Instructors select the books and the number of copies to put in the reserve system. Frequently these books are your instructors’ own personal copies. The reserve system is not meant as a replacement for students buying their own books.  Reserve texts are provided as a courtesy by the library and your instructors, but if we made it a policy to provide enough books for each student, we would not be able to provide other vital library services and resources at the level that Drexel University requires.

Hellboy

Hellboy comics would be a great addition to the stacks.

Thanks for your suggestion. We’re in the process of beefing up our graphic novel collection. We’ll add Hellboy to the list for consideration. Meanwhile, we’ll order Hellboy: Seeds of Destruction for Hagerty’s leisure book collection.

The Nation

The library MUST get a subscription to The Nation. Inexcusable!

Thank you for the recommendation. We have ordered a print subscription for Hagerty Library. Meanwhile, you can use the library’s catalog to access The Nation‘s recent issues as well as its archives going back to 1865. And you can find the latest issue in print at the Hahnemann and Law Libraries.

Cybersemiotics (Hagerty)

I recommend that the library buy this book: Cybersemiotics: Why Information Is Not Enough. Thank you!

Thank you for the recommendation. I have passed it along to the reference librarian in charge of maintaining our books in information sciences.

Preparing for the Dental Admission Test (Hagerty Library)

Please buy DAT books for library use.  Drexel does not have only pre-meds.  Don’t make the others left out.  Thanks for consideration!

Thank you for your suggestion.  We hear you, and will definitely acquire some Dental Admission Test books soon.  Keep an eye out for them!

Nicotine in Psychiatry [Hagerty Library]

Dear Sir or Madam:  May I recommend the book Nicotine in Psychiatry by Mipiasecki & P Newhouse? Especially for the Med School Library.  Excellent resource.

Thanks for your recommendation.  We decided to go ahead and purchase the book for Hagerty Library.  Check out its catalog record!

LGBTQ magazines [Hagerty Library]

The Advocate Magazine?  We see no magazines with articles related to LGBTQ studies.  Thank you.

Thank you for your suggestion. You will be happy to know that we do have The Advocate! However, like most of our periodicals, it is not available in print, but rather online in full-text. You can see the available issues here.  Also, we have many periodicals related to LGBTQ studies here at the library.  A keyword search for “gay periodicals” in the library catalog turned up twenty titles!

A Midnight Clear [Hagerty Library]

I believe you used to have A Midnight Clear by William Wharton in the library, but I looked it up again and could not find it! It’s a brilliant WWII novel, and I would love to read it again. Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestion. This does look like an interesting book! I looked into our records, and we have no record of ever having this book. My recommendation is that you obtain this book through E-Z Borrow (which links from the library’s homepage at “Borrow from Other Libraries” in the purple box). A book ordered through E-Z Borrow takes about 3-5 business days to arrive—you will be notified via email when it is ready to pick up at the Circulation Desk. We hope you enjoy reading this book!
