Tracy Hull, Head of Information Services, leaves for Texas

thull.gifTracy Hull, Head of Hagerty’s Information Services Department, is moving to Texas to begin her new position as Associate Dean of the Library at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. As Associate Dean Tracy will be responsible for the operations of the library’s public and technical services units, including reference, interlibrary loan, government documents, special collections, cataloging, acquisitions, and collection development. The Music Library will also report to her. Though we are very sorry to say goodbye to Tracy, we recognize that this is a very special opportunity.

During her four years at Drexel, Tracy has built an extremely effective team in Information Services. Her staff are commited to service, hard working, open to new technology, and ready to experiment with new services. More than one of them commented that Tracy had been just the kind of supportive and centered leader they needed; her calm demeanor and wise judgment helped them develop and evaluate projects with an open and trusting supervisor. She will be sorely missed.

Emily Missner Devaney will be filling in as Interim Head of Information Services; she can be reached at 215-895-6164 or edm25@drexel.edu.

We wish Tracy the very best. TCU is extremely fortunate to gaining such an extraordinary professional colleague.

Kevin Martin, Drexel University Archivist, departs

On Thursday, March 1, Drexel’s University Archivist, Kevin Martin, will begin a new job at the Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington, Delaware. The Hagley collects documents, photographs, and artifacts that celebrate American business and technology, especially the industries and activities of the mid-Atlantic region. It is situated on the site of the original DuPont gunpowder works and includes Eleutherian Mills, the original DuPont family home. Kevin will be joining the Hagley Library as Digital Projects Archivist.

In the past two years, under Kevin’s leadership, Drexel’s University Archives has created a web presence (Drexel University Archives and Special Collections); launched an institutional repository (iDEA); moved key historic materials to an off-site storage facility that provides better environmental conditions; and made possible the creation of a single point of service for the central University Archives and the Archives and Special Collections on Women in Medicine and Homeopathy.. At the same time Kevin has worked closely with Drexel’s offices of Institutional Advancement and Alumni Relations to promote the University’s history and to collect additional resources that document Drexel’s past and present.

We wish Kevin the very best. He’ll be sorely missed by all his colleagues at Drexel. If you wish to contact Kevin, his new e-mail address is: kmart1944@gmail.com
