Restricted access comes early to Hagerty

Graduation brings added pressure to get your stuff done on time. This means that the final exam study period begins earlier than usual this term, and Hagerty Library is doing what it can to accommodate the rush.

From Monday, May 31st through Friday, June 11th, Hagerty Library will be open only to current members of the Drexel community. Drexel Alumni, members of the public, and those with reciprocal borrowing privileges will not have access during this time.

These restrictions do not apply to those visiting Drexel Archives on the library’s lower level. The archives will continue to welcome all visitors.

Up next: Hagerty goes 24/7 for the exam crunch, starting Thursday, June 3.

Finals: 24/7

Waking up at 2am in a cold sweat about your upcoming exams?

Don’t toss and turn–head on down to Hagerty.

During Drexel’s final exam period (March 11- March 20), Hagerty Library will open to current Drexel students, staff, and faculty 24×7.

Our 24/7 period will also include restrictions to ensure that the Drexel community has all the space they need. Hagerty will be closed to the general public, alumni, and reciprocal university affiliates (University of the Sciences of Philadelphia, University of Pennsylvania, and Temple University).

Anyone needing special access during this time should contact the Circulation Desk (215)895-2767 or email: circulat@drexel.edu.  Reciprocal university affiliates and alumni with Drexel University Library cards may request and retrieve books from the Circulation Desk.

During exams the Bookmark Café will be open to the public Monday – Friday 11AM-5PM for access to the Taco Bell Express.

Third Floor Restrictions

People are commenting about Hagerty’s 3rd floor restrictions. Here’s what one student has to say:

It is messed up how the 3rd floor is about to be restricted again. We should have access any day in the year. We have exams and tests and need room to study as well. There is no reason that we can’t use it while there’s only 5 people using the whole floor. Kill the restriction, or we break it.

Thanks for your comments. Although they are in the same building, the law library is a separate library from Hagerty with its own policies, rules, and procedures. For this reason, they have different rules about who can enter and when. Just as Hagerty restricts access to Drexel students only during the university’s regular Drexel exam periods, the law library restricts access to law students only during their exams. We know there’s a space crunch, which is why during this time we’re closing Hagerty to the public and restricting computer use to current Drexel community members only.
