Early Closure

If the library doesn’t close until a certain time, we should not be kicked out until that time.

Thanks for your comment. In general, Hagerty Library closes at 2am on Sunday through Thursday nights and 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. We alert people to closing time about 15 minutes before, but we do not ask people to leave until our posted closing time.

On February 10th and 11th, during Philadelphia’s snowpocolypse, Drexel University (and the entire city) was shut down. The library remained open so that students stuck on campus would have a place to go. Mayor Nutter had asked the vast majority of workers in Philadelphia not to go to work on those days, so our staff was limited and we had to close at 6pm. This was an unusual circumstance, and we posted the early closure on our website and at the entrance to the library. We tried to keep the Bookmark Café open for longer, but there was not enough staff to keep it open, so we had close the cafe earlier than we'd expected to.
