In Memoriam - Peter Ivanick – Head, Libraries Systems & Technology

Peter Ivanick, Head of Libraries Systems & Technology, passed away suddenly on January 13, 2013.  Peter came to Drexel University Libraries in 2006 from Penn’s School of Veterinary Medicine.  In addition to leading the Libraries workstation and laptop programs, Peter oversaw development of the new Libraries website and a new content management system; implementation of the electronic institutional repository; selection and implementation of a discovery search service that provides access to many of the Libraries’ licensed resources with a single search.  He provided valuable leadership in areas ranging from mobile services to digital preservation to development of a digital library infrastructure.  Peter had a long career in academia. Prior to his work at Drexel and Penn he worked at Lehigh University and the University of California’s Southern Regional Library.  Peter was a valuable team member, working in groups and on projects across library locations and university departments. His wit, cooperative spirit and thoughtful nature will be greatly missed.

Peter is survived by his wife, Marcia Winward, and their daughter, Zhanna.  Memorial service arrangements are incomplete at this time, please contact Beth Ten Have if you’d like details when they become available.
