Undergraduate Librarian Attends Distinguished & Intensive Immersion Program

Nancy Bellafante, Librarian for Undergraduate Learning, traveled to Seattle, Washington this past July to attend an intensive, weeklong program for instructional librarians. Bellafante was selected to participate in the distinguished Information Literacy Immersion Program sponsored by the Association of College and Research Libraries.

“The Libraries is deeply invested in improving students’ research skills and in finding ways to measure this growth,” explains Bellafante. “Learning-as-assessment was a major theme at Immersion. We explored several models of evidence-based assessment.”

Bellafante is responsible for programs aimed at building intentional learning skills for undergraduates. She collaborates with co-curricular units on campus and undergraduate-facing faculty to integrate research and information literacy instruction into courses.

“It was an energizing experience for me, says Bellafante. “I look forward to applying the strategies I learned at Immersion to move the vision of Drexel’s information literacy program forward.”
