Lone Survivor [Hagerty Library]

Lone Survivor resize.jpg

Please purchase Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell.

Thanks for your suggestion. We just ordered this book, and it should take a few weeks to arrive. Look for it soon in the leisure book collection on the first floor of Hagerty!

If you need it sooner than that, feel free to order this book through E-Z Borrow.

Alumni can now check out DVDs! [Hagerty Library]

Why are alumni not allowed to check out DVDs? I believe we should be treated [like students] as far as using library resources are concerned. Hoping this will change something.

Thanks for your suggestion. After looking into this, Hagerty Library has changed its borrowing policy. Alumni are now allowed to check out DVDs. Enjoy!

Heroes Season 1 [Hagerty Library]

Heroes.jpg

Please purchase Heroes Season 1.

Thank you for your recommendation. Heroes Season 1 is not scheduled to be released on DVD until August 28. At that time, I will check with our vendor to see if we can order this title.

Stay tuned for more information…

Followup:

I am pleased to say we ordered Heroes Season 1 on DVD.

Resources in Asian Languages [Hagerty Library]

Please order some books in Asian languages (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, etc.). Drexel has 20% Asian, and nearly half of the languages offered in ELC are Asian languages. So please order some so we don’t need to go to UPenn.

Hagerty Library has not collected many non-English language materials for two major reasons. The first is that our budget is dedicated to supporting the teaching and research missions of the university, and foreign language study has not historically been a major aspect of those missions.

Do you have educational DVDs? [Hagerty Library]

Math DVD.jpg

The majority of titles in the DVD library are not very educational. Please regularly order more mathematics/science DVDs. There are tons online.

Thank you for your suggestion. It is true there are lots of educational math/science DVDs online but most are quite expensive. We do occasionally order science DVDs—these are mostly new releases from National Geographic.

Can we keep our books longer? [Hagerty Library]

Graduate students should be able to check out books for longer than one month.

Thanks for your suggestion. As graduate and undergraduate students share many of the same resources, we are unable to extend loan periods for graduate students. We want to ensure that as many students as possible are able to utilize the library’s resources. Graduate and undergraduate students can check out resources for 28 days with 2 renewals.

Textbooks on Reserve [Hagerty Library]

Textbook.jpg

If a book is required for a class, it should be on reserve. Thanks for the awesome, upgraded video library.

We’re glad you’re enjoying all the new DVDs. There are more on the way, so keep checking back for the latest titles.

We place materials on course reserve at the instructor’s request. Unless we hear from the instructor, we do not know that a particular book is needed.

28 Days Later [Hagerty Library]

28 Days Later.jpg

I would like to recommend the purchase of '28 Days Later', a movie that has won many awards. Here is the plot outline:

A powerful virus escapes from a British research facility.Transmitted in a drop of blood and devastating within seconds, the virus locks those infected into a permanent state of murderous rage.

DVDs [Hagerty Library]

Put the DVDs in some kind of order (alphabetical, call number, etc.). Right now there is no organization system and it makes it difficult to find a specific title (other than by browsing through all the titles at random).

Thank you for your suggestion. We recommend you check the library’s catalog to see if a particular DVD is checked out before you browse through the collection to find it.
