Completed in November of 2007, the Smart Home was awarded a LEED-NC Platinum Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council for its excellence is sustainable design. Several sustainable systems are incorporated into the home including rainwater harvesting, solar hot water heating, photovoltaic power generation, a green roof, rain garden, energy recovery ventilator, and renewable and recycled materials.
The Appropriate Technology Library is 150,000 pages of full text and graphics from 1050 books covering all areas of village-level and do-it-yourself technology--all on 27 CD-ROM’s or 4 DVD’s.

ILI Standards Infobase The ILI standards database is a bibliographic standards database. It covers over 600,000 worldwide standards. Over 250 major Standards issuing authorities are covered, from the US, Europe, the international bodies ISO and IEC to Japan and Australia. Any ASTM standards can also be requested through ILI Standards Infobase.
The DOE Data Explorer (DDE) is an information tool which includes a database of citations prepared by the Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI) based on the information found at various data-hosting Web sites. The DOE Data Explorer can be used to find collections of scientific research data, such as computer simulations, figures and plots, interactive maps, multimedia, numeric files, and scientific images.
The Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) was established as a statistical agency in 1992. The Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA) of 1991 created BTS to administer data collection, analysis, and reporting and to ensure the most cost-effective use of transportation-monitoring resources.
