A new reserves management software, Ares, will expedite the Libraries' current electronic and print reserves processing, starting in fall quarter. Ares connects directly with Blackboard Learn, and faculty will request materials online, track reserves processing and receive notifications when materials are available for their classes. Students will also have direct access to course reserve materials through Blackboard once they have been processed and made available.
A few basic frequently-asked-questions are included below to help explain the new software and reserves request process. The Libraries will host three workshops to provide step-by-step directions on how to use the new software; contact information is also provided for those seeking additional assistance.
On Monday, May 7th, the Libraries will launch two exciting new pilot programs at W. W. Hagerty Library:
1. Roving Assistance - Libraries’ staff, equipped with an iPad, will circulate throughout W. W. Hagerty Library offering guidance and assistance to patrons. So, if you see a Libraries staff member - ask them your question about finding an item, printing, or other library related issues. They can help find items in the catalog and more, from any space in the building.
Please also send out circulation notices for DVDs when they are due on a particular day, the same way circulation notices are sent out for books.
Thanks for the suggestion. Circulation notices are emailed 5 days before borrowed items are due. Since the loan period for DVDs is 5 days, if we sent the notice for DVDs, you'd get it on the day you checked the DVD out. Unfortunately we can not create an alternate system for DVDs with our current software. To help you remember, we insert a helpful reminder about when your DVD is due in each DVD case we check out.
