Liaison librarian for engineering, Jay Bhatt, was awarded the Learning Partner Award from the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems on Saturday, June 14, 2014. The award was given during the 2014 commencement and honors celebration which focused on ‘interdisciplinary frontiers.'

Engineering design is a fundamental problem-solving model used by the discipline. Effective problem-solving requires the ability to find and incorporate quality information sources. To teach courses in this area effectively, educators need to understand the information needs of engineers and engineering students and their information gathering habits.
The Libraries would like to congratulate Steve Bogel, Gary Childs, Joshua Fore, Al Gerhold, Oreste Jimenez, Larry Milliken, Tom Pugh, Tim Siftar, Nancy Spedding, Elizabeth Ten Have, Tainesha Ware, and Ellen Wolk for their milestone years of service. Together these 12 individuals have dedicated a combined 125 years of service to Drexel University. They will be recognized at a special luncheon in December.
The commitment of these individuals to the Libraries is greatly appreciated.
On Monday, July 15, 2013, Spencer Lamm joined the staff of the Libraries as manager, discovery systems. He previously worked as the digital initiatives librarian at Swarthmore College where his responsibilities included managing the infrastructure systems and user-facing applications of the Tri-College Library Consortium, which includes Swarthmore College, Bryn Mawr College and Haverford College.
Each year the Drexel Graduate Student Association acknowledges students, faculty and staff who contribute the to success of Drexel graduate students. The Libraries is actively changing the face of its staff with recruitment efforts underway for ten positions over the past month. No new positions have been added to the staff. Instead the positions are carefully redefined jobs to address vacancies and meet numerous factors of change.
Two individuals, one team and two student workers were recognized at the fourth annual Library Celebration Awards, hosted by Drexel University Libraries, on Friday, May 17, 2013. Approximately 40 guests attended the breakfast celebration to recognize Libraries' staff at the Library Learning Terrace.
Laura Chance, Library Reserves Assistant, received the Association of College and Research Libraries, Delaware Valley Chapter’s Future Librarian Award. Laura’s winning essay earned her a $1,000 stipend so that she could attend the ACRL 2013 Conference in Indianapolis, IN.
The Libraries’ recognized four staff members and one student worker on Thursday, May 10th at the third annual Library Celebration Awards. Approximately 40 guests attended the breakfast celebration at Drexel’s Library Learning Terrace.
The Library Celebration Awards were established in 2010 to recognize individuals or teams who have advanced the values of the Libraries through exceptional accomplishments. In addition to Library staff, a student worker is also recognized for his/her dedication to the Libraries by receiving the Jane Bryan Student Worker Award. The Libraries were once again pleased to welcome Jim and Thomas Bryan, who joined in recognizing the student contribution to the Libraries.
