Liaison Librarian for Engineering, Jay Bhatt, Authors Chapter in “Integrating Information into the Engineering Design Process”
Engineering design is a fundamental problem-solving model used by the discipline. Effective problem-solving requires the ability to find and incorporate quality information sources. To teach courses in this area effectively, educators need to understand the information needs of engineers and engineering students and their information gathering habits.
To kick off the New Year, I sat down with our manager of discovery systems, Spencer Lamm to learn more about the work being done in the Libraries’ systems department.
On Monday, December 16th, Eddie Rubeiz joined the Libraries’ systems department as the new web developer. Eddie joins the Libraries from the Columbia University Center for New Media Teaching and Learning. His primary focus will be on developing, implementing and maintaining the user-focused aspects of the Libraries web sites and applications.
Eddie’s office is located in W. W. Hagerty Library.
It’s not often that I find myself walking past the office of Peggy Dominy, liaison librarian for science and math, but when I do it is usually full – of students, of quilts, of resources and books, and maybe a few turtle trinkets as well. Peggy is a passionate teacher, a talented quilter, a knowledgeable and innovative librarian and a dedicated parent.
The Libraries would like to congratulate Steve Bogel, Gary Childs, Joshua Fore, Al Gerhold, Oreste Jimenez, Larry Milliken, Tom Pugh, Tim Siftar, Nancy Spedding, Elizabeth Ten Have, Tainesha Ware, and Ellen Wolk for their milestone years of service. Together these 12 individuals have dedicated a combined 125 years of service to Drexel University. They will be recognized at a special luncheon in December.
The commitment of these individuals to the Libraries is greatly appreciated.
On Tuesday, November 5, 2013 the Libraries’ Ann Yurcaba was recognized at the Department of Public Safety’s Commendation & Award Ceremony for her work on the Drexel University Preparedness Users Group.
