Drexel Student Learning Priorities And Collaborative Partnerships Are The Focus Of A New Environment Within W. W. Hagerty Library

Faculty and staff from across campus work collaboratively to support student achievement of Drexel's Student Learning Priorities [DSLP] in a new learning environment in the lower level of W. W. Hagerty Library. The space, room L25, opened on Thursday, November 15th, to provide a place for members of the DSLP Collaborative Partnerships group to work together to provide programming and support for student learning.

Already, the Drexel Writing Center [DWC], the English Language Center [ELC] and the Libraries have partnered on a pilot program, providing enhanced tutoring and support for international students. Students who take advantage of this opportunity receive focused writing, language and research guidance.

Succeeding at Group Work, with Help from the Libraries

By: Emily Missner

Walk into any of the library locations on campus, and you'll find students working on collaborative projects including class presentations, group research papers, capstone projects, and lab reports. The Libraries already provide space for group work and self-directed learning to take place, and now we've taken it a step further with the Group Work Survival Guide.

Partnership between Libraries and Drexel Smart House helps Students Develop Information Literacy Skills

By: Jenny James Lee with assistance from Jay Bhatt, Drexel University Libraries' Liaison Librarian for Engineering and Chris Baccash, Vice President for External Relations, Drexel Smart House

The partnership formed between Drexel University Libraries and the students of Drexel Smart House (DSH) has led to a unique relationship built on a culture of collaboration and a dedication to building strong information literacy skills.

DSH, a student-run organization founded in 2006, seeks to engage students both in and out of the classroom, bringing laboratory research and classroom instruction into a real world environment. The program encourages collaboration between disciplines, working in areas such as architecture, civil and architectural engineering, mechanical engineering, interior design and digital media design.

Library-Smart House Collaboration for Information Literacy Development

Abstract:

The Library-Smart House partnership seeks to design and implement a sustainable, virtual
environment for collaboration that will seamlessly integrate project communication and
information access. This virtual environment will provide a means for increased collaboration
between students, faculty, librarians and outside contributors as well as ensure the sustainability
of the project in coming years.
The Smart House is a student-led, multidisciplinary project to retrofit an existing house to be a
living-laboratory.
