The Libraries' iPad Lending pilot project is moving on; the iPads have been taken out of circulation at Hahnemann Library, and early next week will be available at Queen Lane. After a testing period at Queen Lane, the project will be evaluated using the valuable feedback provided by borrowers to determine whether they will become a permanent part of the Libraries' services.
The Libraries have subscribed to Elsevier's ClinicalKey online service, which replaces the electronic content that was formerly offered through MDConsult. It offers a more robust (yet simple) searching interface and access to thousands more books and journals, as well as other sources, as noted in the following list. ClinicalKey is a comprehensive, trusted, and speedy resource for clinical information, enabling faculty, residents, and students to locate topic overviews as well as in-depth information in order to meet every day and unusual clinical challenges.
Prepping for the NCLEX? Davis's NCLEX-RN Success is now available online through the Libraries' Stat!Ref e-book collection. In addition to the comprehensive review text (up-to-date for 2012) and study strategies, this resource includes a downloadable file that provides a customizable pre-test/self-assessment mechanism. Please note that the online text is limited to 5 concurrent users.
Due to an update release, there may be some interruptions in service for ScienceDirect on Saturday, December 1st. The release will include infrastructure improvements, and will also extend browser coverage to include Google Chrome and Safari as well as Firefox and IE 7, 8 and 9. Safari users on iPads will also be able to enjoy the full functionality of ScienceDirect!
The Libraries are currently offering a variety of workshops on topics ranging from presentation software (all the cool kids are using Prezi! Are you?) to SimplyMap. Visit our Workshops page to see the upcoming schedule and register.

As we welcome all our new students for the Fall term, we don't want to neglect our students returning from a summer off, or just the term break. We have some exciting new things to share with you!
First, at Queen Lane, Katherine (Katie) Montgomery Lewis has joined the library staff at the circulation desk.
We've added 5 new Mac Book Pros to the laptops available for borrowing at Hahnemann Library. Like our other laptops, these can be borrowed for 3 hours at a time for use within the library by students and others who have signed a laptop borrowing agreement.
And don't forget that we have iPads as well, which can be borrowed for a full day (Monday-Friday only) and can be taken out of the library!
ILLiad is being upgraded today so there will be a short down-time. After the upgrade, ILLiad will be fully Unicode compliant, accepting and displaying CJK, Hebrew, Arabic and other non-Western character sets as well as Extended Latin. Stay tuned for more updates!
