In November, 2012 the Libraries welcomed Joe Schaffner, evening & weekend reference librarian. Joe has an M.A. in English Literature from Rutgers University and is currently working towards his MSLIS at Drexel, which he will complete in December 2012.
Previously, Joe worked in reference and instruction at Temple University’s Paley Library and as a courseware support intern at the University of Pennsylvania’s Van Pelt Library.
On Monday, September 17, 2012, Chris Clement joined the Drexel University Libraries' staff as the library applications developer. He has a master’s degree in computer science from Drexel University and he previously worked at Lockheed Martin. Chris will be based at W. W. Hagerty Library in the Library Technologies offices.
Gary Jarvis, evening & weekend reference librarian at W. W. Hagerty Library, joined the Libraries’ staff in late August 2012. Gary holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of Iowa and will complete his MSLIS at Drexel in December. He has extensive experience in advising, teaching and writing and has been working at the University of Pennsylvania’s Van Pelt library for the past year.
On Monday, August 20th, the Libraries’ welcomed Katie Montgomery Lewis to the staff at Queen Lane Library as Circulation Clerk. Katie comes to Philadelphia from California, where she attended the University of California – San Diego [UCSD] and graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Literature.
On Monday, May 14, 2012, the Libraries welcomed Ann Yurcaba as director of library administrative services. Prior to joining the staff at Drexel, Ann served as the senior director for member programs and services at LYRASIS, a non-profit organization created to serve and support libraries, with a membership of more than 1,700 institutions. Ann has over 20 years of senior leadership experience working with outreach, programs, professional development and recruitment as well as administrative services. She has a master’s degree in library science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
