Eighth ScholarSip Event Features Research from Jonathan Spanier

Fifty Drexel faculty and professional staff gathered in the Sky View Room of MacAlister Hall on Monday, March 18, 2014 for the Libraries’ eighth ScholarSip event. The event featured the research of Jonathan Spainer, PhD, who provided the evening’s food for thought.

Seventh Scholarsip Event Features Research Of Rob D’Ovidio, PhD

The Libraries celebrated its seventh ScholarSip event on Tuesday, December 3, 2013, bringing over 50 people together to celebrate the end of the fall term. Rob D’Ovidio, PhD, provided an informational food for thought with his presentation titled The Rise of the Machine: the Evolution of the Computer and Crime. He stimulated discussion about identity theft, the alarming increase in possession of images of child pornography, and the conditions facilitated by information devices and communications by which crimes have become easier to commit and more difficult to guard against.

Mariana Chilton Speaks at Libraries ScholarSip Event

Preventing hunger was the focus of the Libraries sixth ScholarSip event as Mariana Chilton, Ph.D. presented on her research and work with the Center for Hunger Free-Communities. Through the center’s Witnesses to Hunger program, Chilton has worked with women in numerous communities to collect photographs documenting hunger and poverty in Philadelphia, Boston, Camden, Pennsylvania, and Baltimore.

Lacovara Speaks at Fourth ScholarSip Event

Over 60 Drexel faculty and professional staff gathered together to toast the last day of fall classes and join in cross-disciplinary conversations at the Libraries’ quarterly ScholarSip event held on Monday, December 10th. Associate professor of biology, Kenneth Lacovara, Ph.D., offered the evening’s ‘food for thought’ with his presentation on the discovery of a new giant dinosaur in Patagonia, Argentina.

Lacovara provided a humorous and insightful presentation about his numerous trips to the remote area in Patagonia where he and his team discovered fossils representing one or two large dinosaurs.

Faculty and Staff from Across Campus join in Celebration of Scholarship

On Monday, June 11th, over forty Drexel faculty and professional staff gathered to toast the last day of spring classes and join in cross-disciplinary conversations at the second ScholarSip event. Drexel’s athletic director and Carl R. Pacifico Professor of Neuropsychology, Eric Zillmer provided the evening’s ‘food for thought’ with an insightful presentation on the psychology of terrorism.
