Textbook Request [Hagerty Library]

Please get the organic chemistry textbook for 241. Thanks.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have forwarded your recommendation on to Peggy Dominy, Sciences Librarian here at Hagerty. She will consider purchasing this textbook, pending she is able to purchase the textbook without the entire package.

My Neighbor Totoro [Hagerty Library]

Are the movies listed in the catalog available at the library? I would like to rent My Neighbor Totoro, but I haven’t seen it on the shelves yet.

Thanks for your question. If a DVD is listed in the catalog as “Hagerty Leisure DVDs,” then it is located on the first floor along the walls near the entrance to the Bookmark Café. If a DVD is listed in the catalog as “Hagerty Reserves Media,” then it is located at the circulation desk and can be checked out for the time period specified in the catalog. My Neighbor Totoro is located in the Leisure DVD collection, but as this is a very popular item, it is frequently checked out. If you’re ever having difficulty locating a DVD (or anything else), please stop by the Reference Desk, and we will do our best to help you find what you need.

Chilly in the Café [Hagerty Library]

The café is getting uncomfortably cold! I wonder if the air conditioner could be turned down a little bit. Stay green!

Thanks for your suggestion. We have a new air handler installed on the south side of the building, and we are working to reach a comfortable temperature in the building. You should see improvement in this over the next few weeks, but please let us know if the cold continues.

Construction Woes [Hagerty Library]

I adore the fine library you have established here. There are more than enough books to read to my liking, the advanced catalog system is very accessible, even the rocking-type chairs at the study tables on the second floor are neat. I just would like to see the renovations completed.

Thanks for your suggestion. We are glad to hear you are enjoying and taking full advantage of what we have to offer here at Hagerty. While we agree that it would be nice to complete the renovations, we are looking forward to updated facilities (and better air ventilation!) that are more in tune with student needs. While we realize that construction can often be disruptive, we are working hard to make sure there are always quiet study spaces. If there’s anything we can do to make this process smoother, please feel free to let us know.

Study the Night Away [Hagerty Library]

24/7It would be really nice if the Bookmark Café could be open 24/7 like it was last term. It really helped me back then.

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, due to budget constraints and decreased enrollment in the summer we are unable to keep the Bookmark Café open during the Summer Term. However, the Café will resume a normal 24/7 schedule in the Fall Term. We appreciate your understanding.

Trash–Yuck! [Hagerty Library]

Trash.JPG

There is an unacceptable amount of TRASH in the café. Please have staff clean daily or monitor closely students’ unhealthy behaviors for not throwing their trash away. I am disappointed with Drexel for allowing such a nice café to be destroyed so soon.

Thanks for expressing your concerns over trash in the Bookmark Café. Facilities monitors the Café on a regular basis, but we will certainly discuss this situation with them to see if they can circulate through more frequently. Most importantly, we agree that students and other library users need to take greater responsibility for their workspaces by putting all trash in containers and leaving workspaces clean. By working together, we can keep the library a clean and neat place to work, study, and relax.

Quiet Group Study Areas [Hagerty Library]

Please provide more tables on the second floor! Now that the third floor is undergoing renovation, there are no quiet study areas for more than one person!

Thanks for your suggestion. We will look into distributing more tables throughout the second floor for quiet group study. Please also be aware that you can always check out a group study room, even if you plan to be quiet.

The Bookmark Café [Hagerty Library]

Please have more plug points in the 24-7 Café and a water fountain, too. Thanks!!!

Thanks for your suggestions. In order to help increase the number of power outlets in the Bookmark Café, we will be purchasing power strips and making them available for checkout at the circulation desk.

We have provided vending machines, and the cafe will provide water. But we will consider adding a water fountain as well.

Smoking Outside the Library [Hagerty Library]

Please enforce the no smoking ordinance at the Hagerty front entrance. It’s truly disgusting that smoke clouds enter into the library. Please enforce the rule and make it 25 feet. I’m surprised no one has called the health department yet—gross.

Thanks for expressing your concern. Please know that we share your concerns about smoking outside the Hagerty entrance. We have signs posted notifying patrons of our policy, and we are asking Public Safety to patrol the area when they are on their rounds. We are also looking into moving the ashtrays further away from the library entrance. If you have a particular concern at any time, please see the staff at the Circulation Desk, and they will be happy to assist you.
