Please buy back the books which are lost and paid. What is the point of fining them?
Thanks for your question. Due to numerous urgent projects, we have been unable to make the purchasing of lost and paid books a priority. But now that other projects are slowing down, we are eagerly anticipating getting caught up on this project. We hope to start purchasing these books soon.
In the meantime, feel free to order these books through E-Z Borrow. Books ordered through E-Z Borrow arrive in 3-5 business days. Thanks for your patience!

We need to have a better/larger collection of Bollywood movies.
Thanks for your suggestion. We are more than happy to purchase more Bollywood titles. We recently placed orders for Tere Mere Sapne and Kaun. Are there any specific titles you’re looking for? We always like good recommendations!

So we buy an automated turnstile to replace a security guard checking IDs and then they are still stationed there anyway. Not to mention this automated unit makes a loud beep and mechanical noise (that you can hear downstairs) in a library. I thought a library was supposed to be quiet. Way to go on that one!
Thanks for expressing your concern over the new security gate. The security gate was never intended to replace the security guard that is stationed near the entrance to the library. The security turnstile assures that all Drexel-affiliated patrons entering the building have current Drexel IDs. The security guard is present to ensure the safety of patrons while they are in the facility and to greet visitors to the library and make sure they have appropriate ID to enter the building. As for the noise, we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. We have looked into the noise at the security turnstile and unfortunately are unable to quiet or turn off the noise.
We recommend you study on the second floor for a quieter atmosphere. If you notice student conversations are a problem on the second floor, please let the staff at the Circulation Desk know, and they will be happy to address the problem. Also, we have ear plugs available at the Circulation Desk for your convenience.
I love the library so much. You guys work hard. Thank you.
Thanks! We are happy to strive for excellence at what we do.
Can you implement a course reserves system so students can reserve a textbook for a certain date and time? That will give students peace of mind!
That is a great suggestion and we would really like to make using textbooks as easy as possible for students. Unfortunately, our library automated system is not capable of making reservations in this fashion. We have created an online reservation system for Study Rooms but with the Reserve collection consisting of over 2000 books, it would not be possible to do something similar.
Reserve books may be checked out any time that the library is open and can be kept for various amounts of time. This time is determined by your professor, but the standard is 2 hours and you may renew the item if no one else has asked for it. If you need a text book that is currently checked out, you can put your name on a waiting list and we will call you when it is available. If you are looking for a good time to stop by the library to check out a textbook, mornings are best. It is less busy during that time and most items are available for check out.

I wish there was a better way to enforce noise levels, especially on the second floor. I leave my apartment to come here for absolute quiet (since it’s a library), and I find myself in a situation where students feel free to socialize!! I’ve been to other libraries outside this area, and you can hear a pin drop. Sadly enough I cannot say the same for here.
Thanks for expressing your concern. Due to the recent construction on the third floor, we realize the second floor has not been the best area for quiet study. Now that the construction on the third floor is ending, the second floor will hopefully be quieter. We will ask staff to periodically walk around the second floor to enforce the courtesy policy for noise. If you notice student conversations are a problem, please let the staff at the Circulation Desk know, and they will be happy to address the problem.

Please find the poor little cricket in the basement and set him free. I think he is lost.
Thanks for the heads up. We released a mouse last week who appears to have found the cricket a better home. Just kidding! But seriously, we do our best to keep insects and other critters out of the building, and to that end we have regular visits from an exterminator. Please let me know if the critters are still a problem.
It is really hard to find the DVDs I’m looking for. It would be better if there was a categorization for the DVDs.
Thanks for your comment. Because of how quickly the DVDs circulate, we are unable to keep them in any particular order. Some DVDs are checked out up to four times in a single day! I recommend that you look a up DVD in the catalog first to make sure it’s available, and then you can begin the search along the wall. As always, if you’ve searched and searched and still can’t find that title you’re looking for, feel free to stop by the circulation or reference desks and we can help you look.
The students that take full time classes in the summer deserve the same budgeting in finances as those scheduled for classes in the fall and winter. As students on a class/co-op cycle, we are forced to take classes when Drexel assigns us our schedule. For these reasons, it is not right that although we pay the SAME tuition/fees as fall & winter students, we do not receive the 24-hour use of the facility.
Thanks for expressing your concern. While we understand that you are paying the same tuition and fees for summer courses, decreased enrollment overall during the Summer Term means we have less money to spend overall. We hope you can appreciate the issue here. As a heads up, the entire library will be going to 24-7 access for final exams beginning Thursday, August 28. Thanks for your understanding.

Turn off some computers during break weeks, especially if you’re closing a lab, in order to save electricity and be green. Also, please forewarn students at least one hour in advance over announcements if planning to do a restart on computers by an admin.
Thanks for your suggestions. We certainly want to be energy-efficient, so we will look into shutting down computers during especially slow times. We are sorry to hear you did not receive sufficient warning before a computer reboot. We have experienced intermittent power problems at the computer hubs recently due to construction, but we will certainly do our best to warn you of any reboots.
