Why no change for parking? [Hagerty Library]

Why is there a “no change” policy? The only people asking for change would be Drexel students that drive. Is there a good reason to inconvenience us?

Thanks for your question. We have a “no change” policy because, quite frankly, we do not have that much change on hand. We try to provide change for students making photocopies, but for the most part, we cannot provide change for the parking meters because we simply do not have enough for everyone. There is a change machine at Creese. Also, the lunch truck right outside Hagerty (John’s) and Pete’s Lunch Box across the street sell Smart Cards. We recommend you utilize one of those options.

An Annoyance [Hagerty Library]

There are a lot of flies around the library!

Thanks for your comment. We have also noticed the flies around the library, and we are thinking they may be due to windows and doors being left open with construction crews coming in and out. Now that construction on the third floor is wrapping up, we are hoping to see a decrease in the flies.

Clean, Please! [Hagerty Library]

The first floor restrooms (both in the main library and in the café) need to be cleaned way more often. It’s strange how the smallest restrooms of the library are also the most frequently used.

The green sofas also need to be cleaned, especially between the sides (because of dust, food, everything)!

Thanks for your suggestions. We will talk with Facilities and ask them to make more frequent checks of the restrooms, specifically those on the first floor.

As for the green furniture, both the green sofas and armchairs will be re-covered during the upcoming renovations this fall. For now, we ask that everyone treat the furniture with respect (i.e. don’t spill liquids, put trash in trashcans, etc.).

Messy Food [Hagerty Library]

Please fine people who bring food into our library.

Thanks for your suggestion. We ask that everyone be considerate of others and follow the stated policies when bringing food into the library. However, we are not planning to institute fines for food consumption in the library—we simply ask that students be respectful of those around them. If you have a specific concern at any time, feel free to speak with the staff at the Circulation Desk.

Technology Frustration [Hagerty Library]

While I appreciate the library efforts to provide swift services, of late, library visits have not delivered a high level of satisfaction. The printing stations seem to always be out of service. One day a station does photocopies; the next day it only does printing. Also, photocopying procedures are so unclear. Directions at the printing stations are either inadequate or non-existent all together. The computers in the basement won’t allow me to sign on to the Drexel network – thus, I cannot make scans I needed. I am extremely stressed out and the library is only adding to this.

Thanks for your suggestion. We are sorry to hear you have had a difficult time with the technology when visiting the library recently. We were experiencing problems with using the public printer as both a printer and a copier, so we turned off the copier capabilities in hopes of simplifying the process for people. Very shortly, we will be adding more copiers to the first floor, so hopefully that will alleviate some of the problem. We have worked hard to improve signage near the printers and copiers, and we will continue to work for clearer and more efficient signage.

The Networking issues with the computers in the Lower Level are resolved now—there were two separate issues related to a PECO power outage and an IRT modification that caused those computers to be unavailable for several days. We apologize for the inconvenience those problems caused. As always, there is a copier/scanner with “scan to email” functionality on the first floor. A lot of the confusion results from changes that are taking place due to the construction, but now that things are settling down, we should be able to have greater consistency of service. Thanks for your patience.

Autocad [Hagerty Library]

If the Autocad software/ProE can be installed in the library’s computers/laptops, it would help the engineering students a lot.

Thanks for your suggestion, but Autocad software is not site licensed by the University and therefore we’re not able to provide it on our systems. You can contact IRT at consult@drexel.edu if you would like to recommend they license the software.

I forgot my DragonCard [Hagerty Library]

Every time I come to the library but forget to get my student ID, I have been told to go to Creese to get a verification form. Is there any way you can set up a “verification” service at the library? I know kids should carry their IDs, but going to Creese is ridiculous! Students should not be banished if they have their ID numbers or other information that they are willing to provide.

Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately, we are unable to supply students with temporary IDs at the library. Setting up this type of service would require additional funding and staffing that we are unable to support. Between 8am and 5pm, students forgetting their DragonCards can enter the library with valid photo IDs (such as a driver’s license). After business hours, though, students need to bring their DragonCards.

We realize this can be somewhat of a hassle, but we encourage you to keep your DragonCard with you at all times, as it is useful for a variety of services both in the library and across campus.

Please note that starting Thursday, August 28 and for the duration of finals, only those with a DragonCard will be able to enter the library to make sure there is adequate seating for Drexel students, so be sure to keep your DragonCard with you at all times!

We miss Dexter! [Hagerty Library]

Add the missing DVD of Dexter to the collection. It’s disk 3 of 4 that’s currently missing.

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, we don’t have a great way to replace a single disc without replacing the entire season. Sometimes our vendors sell a single disc at a time, but that’s not available for Dexter Season 1. We’ll keep an eye out and see if we can replace this. Thanks for your patience…

A Granted Wish [Hagerty Library]

The movies need to be organized!!

Thanks so much for your suggestion. We agree with you that the lack of DVD organization is a headache for students and staff alike. As a result, we will be organizing the leisure DVD collection over break before the Fall Term begins. This will be a rudimentary organization (by first letter of the title), but we think even some organization will help.

A Sticky Mess [Hagerty Library]

There is a lack of enforcement to the “no food or drink policy” in the computer area. This often leads to a messy and sticky work area for other users.

Thanks for expressing your concern. We will ask staff to periodically walk around the computer areas in order to enforce the “no food near the computers” policy. If you notice a patron eating at a computer station or if you notice a work area that is sticky and messy, please report the problem to the Circulation Desk, and they will be happy to address the problem. Please see our complete food policy for more details.
