Please fix! [Hagerty Library]

Please fix the power cords at cafe.

Thank you for your suggestion. We are aware that not all of the electrical outlets work in the building, but electricians have investigated the problem and determined that we will be unable to get the outlets functional without some major work. Renovations are currently underway at Hagerty Library, and one of the proposed upgrades is additional and improved outlets. We appreciate your patience as we undergo these renovations.

Overflowing Trash [Hagerty Library]

Add trash cans near the entrance of cafe.  It tends to overflow.

Thanks for your suggestion. We have asked the facilities staff to add another trash can near the entrance of the Bookmark Cafe, and will ask them again. We appreciate you bringing this problem to our attention!

Ethernet Renewal [Hagerty Library]

Can the ethernet cords be renewed without neccessarily having to unplug them from the device and bring it to the front desk to renew it?  That way an ongoing online work won’t disappear (remain disconnected) after the ethernet cord is unplugged from device.  (Assume I do not have wireless connection).

Thanks for your question. Yes, we can do that! Just ask at the Circulation Desk. We hope this helps!

When is my book due? [Hagerty Library]

I think it would be a good idea if we could either get a paper receipt or an email when we check out DVDs/books as a reminder and not just receive an email before due date.

Thanks for your suggestion. We are trying to be as “green” as we possibly can, and unfortunately printing out a paper receipt every time a patron checks out an item would not be very “green” of us! However, the circulation staff will gladly stamp the date due slip in the back of the book for you if you ask them to. So next time, just ask, and we’d be happy to oblige. Additionally, our DVD cases are equipped with slips that let you know when it is due depending on what day of the week you checked it out. Also, don’t forget that you can check your library record online anytime from the library website to check when something is due (as well as renew books!).

Nap Time [Hagerty Library]

It would be amazing if you had cots for us!  Sooo sleepy!

Thanks for your suggestion. I’ve always thought that every building should have a certified nap room complete with cots and comfy pillows. Unfortunately, a nap room was not included when this building was built back in 1984, so we will have to do without. Guess that means you’ll have to continue to nap in the Bookmark Cafe booths. Yes, we see you! :)

Internet Anguish [Hagerty Library]

The Internet here in the library is really awful.  You’d think it should be the best in a place where people study, yet I get a faster, stable connection in my classrooms.  I have a Macbook and the Wi-Fi (Dragonfly) frequently cuts out.  Also, Dragonfly 3 rarely works or is at very low signal.

Thanks for your suggestion. IRT has been having trouble getting Dragonfly 3 to work properly here at Hagerty Library and a few other places around campus. We have been working with them on bettering the situation, and the wireless connection seems to have improved recently. If you continue to have troubles, let them know at networking@drexel.edu or call the IRT Helpdesk at 215-895-2698.

Request-a-rama [Hagerty Library]

I’ve been using Hagerty’s online catalog to locate items I wish to check out and sometimes to request (put a hold on) items which are unavailable. I’ve noticed that the request/hold feature is not available for leisure DVDs.  I think it might make sense to introduce this feature because the DVDs, being popular, can be hard to get– so it may be fair to introduce holds as a kind of queue? There are a couple of titles I can just never get my hands on.

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately there are several issues that prevent us from implementing the request/hold feature for leisure DVDs. The hold process is very time-consuming, and since DVDs could potentially sit on the hold shelf longer than the actual loan period, it does not seem fair to do this since some DVDs are in such high demand, as you mentioned. I would recommend checking our catalog regularly, as you can check its due date and see if it has been recently returned. We hope this helps.

Fix the outlets [Hagerty Library]

Please turn on all outlets in the basement so those of us with laptops don’t have to search all over for power.

Thanks for your suggestion. We are aware that not all of the electrical outlets work in the building, but electricians have investigated the problem and determined that we will be unable to get the outlets functional without some major work. Renovations are currently underway at Hagerty Library, and one of the proposed upgrades is additional and improved outlets. We appreciate your patience.

Technology Frustrations [Hagerty Library]

Get the internet to work always or computers to be working properly instead of spending 42 million dollars on a basketball court or ugly dragon lights!!!!

Thanks for your suggestion. IRT has been having some trouble with DragonFly 3 in the library and a few other locations around campus, but we are actively working with them on possible fixes. In the meantime, please consider using any of the 107 PCs located in the library. All student PCs are less than 2 years old, with 50% less than 1 year old, and with substantially improved performance. We hope this helps!
